Clearly, weed was a gateway drug to alcohol. Maybe he can win a nice hemp medal next? One bong hit, and he got reefer madness. Tragic.

I had to stop being a software developer altogether several years ago and devote all my time to managing my company, but a couple of my applications are still active. Two days ago, one of my applications developed a problem due to a software update of another application (and due to the lack of an appropriate integration test, but that's another issue). I could have delegated the fix, but I miss development so I decided to take on the problem myself.

The problem was fairly easy to identify but given my schedule, the fix required a couple weeks to develop, test, and then give to the test team to verify. It was too difficult to revert to the earlier version of the application which was updated, so I sent out an email that users of my application could not use a specific function until the patch was implemented (using the function crashes the program). I requested receipts on the email. All the users read the email.

The application has a fairly detailed log which records the last 30 days of activity. If a user were to attempt to use the function I said could not be used, the log would record it and identify the user before the application crashed.

In the past two days since I sent the email, only one user has crashed the application. He has done it not once, not twice, but FIVE times. Five freakin times!

So I delegated the fix to a fulltime developer. Grumble.

Some people are just born stupid.

I still want to know what the origin of Candor being a hacker is.
You had better pay your guild dues before you forget. You are 113 months behind.

The application, consisting of nearly 8K lines of C++ code I developed, worked flawlessly without any incidents for over six years. Do your applications have that kind of track record?

Writing, "Weed is the cure for all the world's problems" 9000 times does not an application make.
