Uncooperative people are a poor source of intelligence as a result. The amount of time, money and manpower required to corroborate every statement made under the duress of torture -the majority of which are lies given to end said torture- is, as we say in the business, "retarded". I'm not exaggerating when I say that any other method of intelligence gathering is more productive, more reliable and more efficient. It was unnecessary, it was wrong, and if you or I did it, we'd be in jail.
