It's a slur. The internet says so. Not that I believe stupid shit like Wiki, but it's right. Just because you don't think Yankee isn't a slur, doesn't mean it isn't. You cracker!

The internet says it's a pejorative when used by Britons. I'm sure there are many slurs in foreign languages, but that does not make them slurs in the one true language.
But I want to point something out really quick: do you (all) notice the lengths you're going to to avoid simply not using the original slur in question? You insist it's not a slur, you insist you have freedom of speech, you whine that other slurs go unpunished... when are you going to grow up and just not use slurs? I've managed it, why can't you? Aren't you better than me?

America, stop pushing. I know what I'm doing.
What redskin? I don't consider it a slur. Neither did the people who used it first, aka the Indians. It wasn't used as a slur till after the civil war. The funny thing is this.. some asshole white person took a word that the Native Americans used themselves to identify themselves, even in treaties with the "whiteman", and used it as a derogatory term. Suddenly that word is taboo.
There are SOOOOOO many words that are like this it isn't funny. Hell, assholes can make just about any word a racial slur.
What the hell is the one true language? Wow, that sounds like a familiar individual that started a couple wars a while back...
Dang it! Well, I kept up my cover for 10 years, I think that's pretty good. JackWhisper guessed it, folks, I'm former President George W. Bush. As you no doubt have also guessed, this makes ClydeR Cheney and Tgo01 Rummy. Think about it. It all adds up.The word was a slur before the team got its name. If other words happen to become slurs after other teams are named, we can address that then.Originally Posted by Jarvan

Saw this article today. It's a big enough topic that it should have it's own thread though it fits this thread too which is kind of sad.
The Case for Reparations
This picture below is powerful. Look at the faces of those people. They're just regular citizens. These weren't some outrageous fringe. I bet they were good God-fearing Americans who felt like they were making it in this World through hard work and clean living.
American Exceptionalism is built on crimes against humanity. Now that blacks are catching up whitey's all about being fair and keeping things even. That's why we keep hearing white folks bitching about Affirmative Action and Indian Casinos and how that Football Team has an 80 year tradition! It's a lie and it'll never be right until we can look honestly at our history and the land grab which gave us so much free shit.

Ya, he's pleased as punch isn't he. That picture's from 1920 and it was turned into a postcard. Isn't that a nice keepsake? Lynching postcards.
The Redskins started out as the Braves in 1932 and changed their name to Redskins in 1933. The name change was to honor their Native American head coach Lone Star Dietz. Turns out Dietz was a fraud. So the football team appropriated First Nations heritage based on their coach who was appropriating the culture himself. They should be charged with receiving stolen valor.
