Sounds a bit like you're trying to shine the best light on it because they are oddly quiet on the subject. We also know that their "plans" aren't going anywhere in the run up to implementing obamacare. They could pass the house but not the senate and they're begging for a presidential veto. I think, in this case, you're putting too much faith into the politics.
Wow. I read your first couple of sentences asking for what plans the GOP proposed to replace Obamacare and silly me actually Googled some shit for you then I come back and finish reading your post and you end your post with: "We also know that their "plans" aren't going anywhere in the run up to implementing obamacare. Wat?

So you acknowledge that Republicans have alternatives (at least I think that's what you're saying) but you say since their plans will never pass the senate, then, what? They don't count? The GOP is wasting their time? What? What are you saying exactly because Ashliana already destroyed my nonsense meter for the day and I'm not sure I can fix it if it's pushed much further.

I don't think the republicans do have a plan which is what I'm saying. Ryan's talked about some stuff. Maybe others have too, but they were putting a lot of faith in shutting ACA down at SCOTUS. When they lost that they were caught flat footed. If they did have some good plans, they certainly had an opportunity in 2009 and 2010 to get their ideas looked at.

Yes, the GOP would be wasting it's time trying to fight through a brand new law a few months before the exchanges were set to go online. Kind of like wasting our time and money on the shutdown.

It's from Huffington Post so you can't possibly say it's just right wing bullshit.

Granted HuffPost is taking on their usual left leaning bull by basically saying "Yeah, the GOP had some ideas but they sucked so..."

Which seems to be the stance you're taking. You an avid HuffPost reader by any chance?

ETA: There's also this story too.

Did you read either of those articles? I'm having a hard time seeing how this a win for you.

Are you sure you read the articles? You said the Republicans have no plan; both links provide several plans Republicans have proposed over the years.

I mean sure, if you take HuffPost at face value (LOL!) then every single plan the Republicans put forth were just complete garbage and not even their own grandmas would support their plan.

But if you're taking HuffPost at face value then I think you've already lost this argument.

So what is your argument now; Republicans have NO plan or Republicans have just put forth sub par plans?

After reading those two links I don't see how it can be the former but I don't want to put words in your mouth.

    Exactly.

911 should have taught us all that absent guns those intent on death and destruction will just find something else, sometimes with the potential for even greater loss of life.

Im pretty sure if if the average homeowner took the time to make a list, they could easily find 100 items or more in their home (with half of that coming from the kitchen) that they could kill someone with. They also probably have at least two 2 thousand pound killing machines sitting in the driveway.

Are they gonna start asking me if I have butcher knives, a pressure cooker and anything that could be listed as a poison next?

A doctor asking me about guns makes about as much sense as a mechanic asking me about my genitals. Neither are any of their damn business.

If that were the case then we'd see other countries running up massive death tolls from bleach filled squirt guns, fertilizer bombs and smashing cars into the local pub just to kill their ex-girlfriend.

IMO the issue isnt guns and never has been.

There is no personal accountability in our society anymore.

Smokers sue cigarette manufacturers because they got cancer from something that made them cough their lungs out the first time they tried it.

A morbidly obese man sues McDonalds because their food MADE him fat.

A student sues her parents for college tuition after choosing to break their rules and move out.

No one wants to earn anything any more, instead they feel they should be entitled to it with almost zero effort on their parts.

The problem is, theres always a cost for everything, even if we cant see it immediately.

Im not condoning or excusing the actions of crazy people taking the innocent lives of strangers by any means, but given the examples above is anyone surprised that this happened at all?

These people were taught by society thats its okay to blame someone else for their own problems and when they reached a breaking point innocent lives were lost for no reason at all other than our own stupidity.

Blaming guns for senseless killings is like blaming a car for a death caused by a DUI or blaming a spoon for making you fat and are very much akin to treating the side-effects of a disease instead of the disease itself.

You might be right about murder rate. I'm trying to find stats and it looks like murder doesn't correlate to gun ownership by country. Certainly we reign supreme in gun violence but not too bad in overall violence.
