    2.5 Million versus 300M?

And have you ever been a victim...er patient of VA medical care?

I dunno, I still think we're putting a lot of faith in Corporations and Government where none is deserved.

Rofl at someone thinking healthcare works for the military. I would never subject anyone to that.

I don't think the point for it is to be the "best healthcare ever." If it can help people with their most critical needs, get more people in the system, and keep costs down I think it is a good thing.

When I got a real Doctor and a real Dentist after the Military, it was nice to see that people in those fields actually gave a fuck about their patients for a change. You know...because they had private practices and HAD to maintain a client base to make money...

I am sure that mandatory coverage won't hurt the quality of our healthcare at all.

The military employs 2.5m and protects not only 300m Americans but countless millions of foreigners. And that's just in Texas, our international presence is effective too. In the same way, the government doesn't need to employ all 300m to provide healthcare efficiently to said 300m.

I did not say cite the government solution for healthcare for the military. I cited the government solution for the military, full stop. We tried leaving it up to the states in the form of militias because everybody was scared of the cost and the potential for abuse of a standing federal military... but we ended up with one anyway, because it's the only way that works.
I dunno, I still think we're putting a lot of faith in Corporations and Government where none is deserved.
Not faith, merely an observation that the alternative is worse. That standing military we just talked about did (and does) a lot of horrible things and cost (and costs) a lot of money, but we can all agree that the alternative would have been worse.

I hear that a LOT. For some reason civilians think Tricare and the VA are awesome at their job.

The question is whether you'd prefer it to nothing at all and whether you'd prefer it keeping everyone's costs down rather than paying massive amounts for the uninsured when they use the emergency room as a doctor's office.

You mean the whole 2%? Because that is really killing the cost of healthcare.

According to this news article the uninsured cost about 43 billion dollars a year. Don't get me wrong, that's a hefty sum, but hardly this "massive amount" you claim it to be.

I also question this group's math skills; 43 billion dollars translates to an increase of 1,017 dollars per healthcare plan? That's only 43 million healthcare plans.
