We own some property in Arlington. When my husband went to pay the property tax online he waded through the process and got to the end and they had tacked on a 50 buck "convenience fee."
Of course he didn't finish the transaction because, well fuck that.

Uhm, the town clerk probably got nagged by taxpayers to offer online services. Then hooked up with some financial services company to process online payments and are getting charged a large fee for the low volume, high dollar, insured transactions. But sure, lets go straight to annoying the poor clerk on the front line.
