Hmm.......I need Latrin to explain this one to me.
"similar" is an exquisite word, as we have discussed before. You find the two proposals similar, the White House clearly does not. Who is wrong and who is right?

Also, I would have thought the 4 "defections" in the Republican party would have been interesting as well, but apparently not to Always Bein' Conservative News.

Finally, Terrence, we have also discussed the remarkable differences between an opt-in and an opt-out policy. Especially in light of Congressman Andrew's motion (requiring insurance companies to volunteer the differences between old and new plans), do you think that point is relevant here?

Keep this dismissiveness in mind the next time you accuse someone of comparing apples to oranges.

Well, according to the Obama Admin, 80% of the people will be able to access the website by Nov 30th. They consider this a win.

This is starting to get sad really.

Woman praised by Obama for ObamaCare success finds she can’t afford it

As more consumers lose their health care coverage because of Obamacare, a woman from Washington State, quoted by President Obama as a success, finds out that her support for Obamacare falls short, as she cannot afford the Obamacare insurance plans after all, the Washington State Wire reported on Monday.

Erik Smith of the Washington State Wire said that Jessica Sanford, whose letter was quoted by President Obama in October as a sign of success of his Affordable Care Act health care plan, now finds out that she cannot afford the health plans and much to her surprise, does not qualify for a tax credit either.

On October 21, 2013, President Obama spoke from the Rose Garden and read Stanford’s letter.

In her fan letter, she told Obama, “I recently received a letter from a woman named Jessica Sanford in Washington state, and here’s what she wrote. ‘I am a single mom, no child support, self-employed, and I haven’t had health insurance for 15 years because it is too expensive. My son has ADHD and requires regular doctor visits, and his meds alone cost $250 a month. I have had an ongoing tendinitis problem due to my line of work that I have to have treated. Now, finally, we get to have coverage because of the ACA for $169 a month. I was crying the other day when I signed up. So much stress lifted.”

After reading Stanford’s letter, Obama replied, “Now, that is not untypical for a lot of folks like Jessica who have been struggling without health insurance. That is what the Affordable Care Act is all about.”

Prior to the launch of Obamacare, Stanford was receiving health care quotes of $500 and $600 a month, something she could not afford.

However, after the launch of Obamacare, the errors became apparent that her chance at getting affordable health care diminished.

While the Affordable Care Act is the main cause of the problems that Stanford is enduring, the state of Washington, one of 14 states who set up exchanges, made the problems worse.

Smith said that a few days after President Obama read Stanford’s fan letter, the state health exchange erred on its tax credit calculations.

“The state had been submitting monthly income information to the federal data hub, but the federal computers were expecting an annual figure. Suppose a person claimed an income of $50,000 a year — the tax credit was based on an income of $4,166 a year. The higher the income, the bigger the error. Brokers say they caught the mistake right off the bat and tried flagging it to the state’s attention, but for some reason it took the state three weeks to acknowledge it,” said Smith. “So everyone who purchased a subsidized health insurance policy through the Washington state exchange prior to Oct. 23 was quoted too low a rate. The mistake involved 4,600 policies covering 8,000 people – Sanford’s policy was one of them.”

When Stanford decided to go back and choose another plan, it lowered her tax credit to $110.

However, not long after that, she received word from the state that it had erred again and this time, she was entitled to no tax credit.

Now, not only is she embarrassed due to Obama reading her Obamacare fan mail in front of millions of viewers, she is still without health care and does not know what to do next.

“I’m really terribly embarrassed,” she told Smith. “It has completely turned around on me. I mean, completely.”

“They have to own up to what is going on,” Sanford said. “They have to fix it. They can’t just go around and say this is working great. In my opinion they ought to shut it down and just get all of it straightened out.”

Also on Monday, Erik Smith spoke with Great Van Susteren about the plight of Stanford’s situation.

At first I thought this Jessica Sanford chick was just another racist trying to ruin our country so I decided to Google this story to get another perspective.

Here is CNN's headline for this story:

Woman cited by President as Obamacare success story frustrated by sign up process

I laughed. They make it sound like she had to wait an hour for the sign up process instead of the fact that she can't afford healthcare anymore because of the fuckups.

Also don't worry, she's not a racist at all.

Sanford, an Obama supporter who voted for the president twice, is careful to say she blames the state of Washington's online marketplace for the mixed signals and not the White House.

She is sorry Obama mentioned her during the October 21 speech.

"I feel awful about it. I support (the Affordable Care Act)," Sanford said.

But the messy rollout in the other Washington, the nation's capital, was not far from her mind.

"What the hell? Why is it the same story as the federal government?" Sanford says in disgust with the Washington state exchange. "They didn't have it ready."

    "They screwed up," she added.

Sanford reiterated her frustration in a post to the Washington HealthPlanFinder's Facebook page last Friday.

"Wow. You guys really screwed me over," Sanford wrote. "Now I have been priced out and will not be able to afford the plans you offer. But, I get to pay $95 and up for not having health insurance. I am so incredibly disappointed and saddened. You majorly screwed up."
See? She blames Washington state for all of this and is still a fan of Obamacare. Now that's dedication.

She better figure out how to afford it... this entire scheme depends on people like her paying more for their insurance.

Maybe instead of complaining about the higher prices, she should be out looking for a second job and stop wasting time by bitching.
