To the raw diet for Dude, looks like. Stella and Chewy's has a lot of good options both frozen and freeze dried. If you don't want to go raw, there are always grain-free high end foods. One of my dogs is allergic to chicken so he gets Taste of the Wild's Southwest Canyon mix which is wild boar. No rice, corn, oatmeal or "by-products" in it. Fromm is also a good food and I like that it's all made in the US with ingredients from the US. Pricey, yeah, but Dude's a small dog. He shouldn't be eating a massive amount anyway.

That's exactly it.. well, with some sort of dry dog food as well. Frozen raw beef patties with blueberries and some other crap in it... 1/2 a patty with 1/4 cup of dry twice a day.

The big thing is no more table scraps... I think my dog is going to think I hate him.

The vet scolded me on over feeding them the last time we went. I could break their meal into two I suppose but they don't seem to be suffering.

That's what we do, just take his daily intake and cut it in half.

He's a chow hound and would eat himself to death... giving him something to look forward to in the morning and night tends to curb his annoyingly sad "I'M STARVING" looks.

Our dogs have a dog door from the garage directly into a dog run but, one of the benefits of feeding them once a day is that their defecation is usually only after they eat. So we feed them in the evening then later take them for a walk and they do their business away from the yard. Less cleanup in the dog run. Doesn't always work but still why pick up dog shit in the yard when there are perfectly good fields nearby.

edit: technically this belongs in the smile thread but it would break up the flow of the conversation!

Our old dog is like that. He acts starving even after a full meal. He was actually skin and bones when we got him from the shelter so that would probably explain his attitude to food. I still want to hunt down his previous owners and give them a bullet to the face. What the fuck is wrong with people anyway.
