Did poorly on a math pretest. I am an ignorant son of a bitch.
English won't be a problem. I lack any real education in math, though. I went to a private grade school that was not a very good one- when my step-dad died I got pity-passed in math, never caught up in middle school, and in my freshman year they kicked me out of algebra because my behavior was disruptive to the class. I should add that my teacher that year ended up going to prison for fucking his students, so really all I was disrupting was his courting rituals with the girls basketball team.
I picked up a number of books to try and bring my math skill up, but either didn't have the time or didn't make enough time to progress very far. No matter. I will learn it now.
I just wanted you to know you weren't alone. Lots of students have that same problem. I placed into intermediate algebra myself, but got to start on college English immediately. I'm good at math, but hate it, so I often slacked big time. At least you can get started on English.
My friends paid me to write their composition papers, so I am fairly certain I'll do alright. They did fairly well with my work, so it stands to reason that I will likewise do well with it. Of course, times change. Maybe there is a "new english" like there was a "new math".
Never understood needing to take 30 years of Engrish classes. If you can't read and write papers by the time you're in college, I can see where there might be a lack of knowledge, but after that point... jesus. Why?
