Thread: Thread for Things That Made You Frown Today

So I send in my number for an Amazon rep to call me back.. ALL I want to do is have a shipping company pick up the item they sent me by mistake and send me the correct item. Seems pretty simple.. especially for a company that ships all over the world, like Amazon.

I get a lady that is clearly reading off some sort of customer service recovery flow chart.. telling me I have to drag this thing to UPS or FedEx or USPS, pay for shipping the item back and having them reimburse me with some Amazon dollars. Now, I'm generally a pretty even keeled guy.. and don't normally take my irritation out on a customer service rep.. but this girl was literally reading off the flow chart and she offered me the same thing twice (Amazon money).. thinking the 2nd time was somehow different. WTF? ALL I want is for this thing to be picked up and the correct item I ordered be delivered. How fucking hard is that to understand?

So now, I am going to go over Amazon's head and contact the individual seller directly.. but since today is Good Friday, I'll be calling on Monday.

Uh, you are doing something wrong. I got something for Christmas that was wrong. Printed out my own shipping tag, taped it to the box they sent it to me in and sent it back for free. And I was given cash back.

They tell me because the item was purchased from this vendor through their site, that is the best they can do. I've elevated the issue to the vendor directly.. but I'm not holding my breath.

She doesn't get paid to understand, she gets paid to read the flow chart. Now if we were living in a socialist utopia where well-performed work was its own reward.........

It so happens that my work just ordered an appliance through Amazon as well, and we decided not to save $30-$40 by going through the non-Amazon vendor but Amazon itself. I recommend that course of action for you in the future, if possible.

You ordered an FBA item, meaning that Amazon has absolutely no control over the item, they simply sell it on behalf for the vendor -- Kind of like eBay. They don't really sell the item, they sell the intent of the item. A poor review on the seller's page on Amazon usually will resolve any issue you may have though-- Although vendors are really good with working with customers. They usually have a phone number at the end of the page you can call too.

And yes, most of the customer service reps are lame. At least you didn't get some Indian rep, I always laugh when filing ISS tickets and they tell me to "please do the needfullness of labeling ___ and shipping it back, etc". Shit makes me laugh every time. Also, I say all of this because I work for Amazon.

Yeah, sometimes you can get free stuff if you go on their page and put a review of a product saying, "This item has too many good reviews I don't believe its true!!!!1"

The only time I've ever had service from Amazon that didn't work out was when I ordered a book in early January and got a delivery date of between february 5th and march 5th. I finally got an email near the end of march saying the order was cancelled because they couldn't get the book
