I still love Key West. The rest of Florida... Eh. I could take it or leave it. The places I hate most intensely are New Jersey and Houston. Except the Paramus mall in Jersey. Still love that even though it's closed on Sundays.

I am scared to look to see if there is Redwall rule 34 because it must be out there.Mariel. And if you weren't put off by her being thrown into the ocean and surviving what would be a multiple day trip by ship (while unconscious!) I fail to see how improvised weaponry would really bother you. I think we both know what the real problem you had with that book was.Originally Posted by Delias

I never got into Redwall. I thought about it but I honestly would have skipped around shamelessly to the otter parts.

My heart swells, tender and joyous. As GI Joes to the shop vac, we exist in a capricious and openly hostile universe. Our only hope is for quick, imminent death and cessation of sorrow. All is lost. All is lost.We had one that was all kinds of tunnels... shit, what was it called. Loamhedge or something. I remember it vaguely.
Nevermind. My memory is shot.

Its pretty good for what is written as a kids book . . . surprisingly complex and elaborate, and I definitely found it a challenging read when I was little.
I think what ended up killing it for me was as I continued to read books, I had this feeling that it was all too formulaic. Each book basically told a self-contained story that was pretty much the same as the others, you just swapped out the main characters and maybe added in one theme or unusual element, such as "Oh, there is an outcast this time!" or "This time, the story is Martin himself!".
This may have been hurt by the fact that none of the ones I read were following immediately before or after another, so there was virtually no coherent "overarching" storyline . . . there was just ALWAYS an Abbey full of friendly woodland creatures, there was ALWAYS a Salamandastron with badass badger soldiers, and there was always a bunch of rats and ferrets trying to ruin their shit. But since I never picked up on any continuity between the books other than "There once was a mouse named Martin!", I just got bored.
I suppose if I had read them in chronological order, or had been a little older when I started, it might have been a little more coherent to me.
