We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men. Edward R. Murrow

Despite the fact that I play this lame game, I never read fantasy and the only sci-fi I read are the "classics." And yet I read and am entertained every day; there are plenty of excellent authors out there.

I'm not saying they aren't good authors, or that people can't enjoy them. I'm just saying I don't in most cases. Just a matter of personal preference.

I read this book for work recently http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/25/bo...anted=all&_r=0 -- fucking amazing read. It had a ridiculously long chapter on language learning and brain development (in the context of deaf children that either learn ASL or, to their detriment, are forced to attempt vocalization). Apparently making your kid learn a language is world-destroying beneficial.

There are definitely more useful choices than others--I learned a bunch of Hebrew a few years ago and it almost never comes in handy unless I randomly meet a jewess or Homeland forgets to cover up the all the Hebrew signs in their "Lebanon" scenes. College french has only fucked me cause you sound like a dick when you say 'au bon pain' correctly. Spanish I would use everyday of my life.

Sadly, no. I just love ordering falafel and diamonds as accurately as possible.

    You must foreplay like whoa.

Those people speak cubish and latvian, respectively. Spanish is useless.

Dialects. Try to talk some text-book Spanish to a Cuban or Puerto Rican and see how well it goes.
