Me: So... you are trying to get onto his laptop, but the laptop isn't there because he took it with him.
User: Yes. Does that mean I can't use the keyboard and mouse to get into his email?
Me: Well, if the laptop isn't there, you can't get onto the laptop.

Although I have been called a troll, that was from me. And I know what post you were referencing in your post but it still sounds like you have experience in a call center, just from the phrasing you used. Not that there is anything wrong with call center work...
