Most people don't spend the length of a marriage preparing for the next milestone. It'd be like saying "You wait until a month before my birthday to try to figure out what to get me? What did you spend the last 330 days worrying about since my last one??". I guess it all is a matter of expectations.

While I very much agree with this, after blowing off my steam, I also must agree that it IS the every day things that count.

Let me clarify by saying I did not expect "teh awesomeness,"but I also did not expect the, "hey, this kind of snuck up on me and I'm sorry if I've hurt you so much, so thanks for putting up with me for so long. What's for dinner?"

We have been the kind of people who leaned toward major things to celebrate minor things in the past (5 year anniversary, here, have a motorcyle... 7 years, here I am taking to you France and London). Granted, I am not on an I did this, so I expect this in return- what I do, I do out of love (which expects no return). I guess it was the stunning gloss-over of what should be an important milestone when one has sustained certain abuses and the other party is "trying" to do better and change.

At least the day is getting better and I am no longer frowning, because Delias made me smile.
