I do own a 2011 Jeep Patriot.
I needed a car that could take me off-road for the amount of camping/hiking I do. I needed a car that had 4WD, skid plates, and enough room to drive around both of my dogs (who are quite larger than Anticor's dogs). I also wanted an American made car. I plan on going back to school full time and didn't feel like having a $450 a month car payment while I was not working. The Wranglers were impractical for my needs AND I now get good gas mileage.
The Patriot is the most off-road capable vehicle in its class. It's in the top 10 for most fuel efficient SUVs. It also get ranked the safest consistently for its class.
What brand of vehicle would you have suggested I buy that also met all those needs?

I don't like the look of the Nitro. It's built on the same chassis as the Liberty. It's essentially the same car with less of a 4WD system. It doesn't get as good mileage.
The 4WD isn't as good on the Nitro as it is in the FDII patriot. The Nitro has less ground clearance. The Nitro does not have skid plates or tow hooks. So yeah, I would end up paying more every month for something that doesn't do what I need.
They made some changes to the outside of the 2011 Patriot. It doesn't look like it used to so much. Plus, I think it's the only Jeep currently being produced that looks the most like the old Cherokee, which is one of my favorite cars.
That's the same color as mine. Mine has tow hooks and shit on it though.
I think that looks better than:

My last car was a 2002 liberty. I loved it and got 170k from it with no problems.
