They are Guards units. 1st Guards and 4th Guards, two of the best units in the entire Russian Army, are there taking huge loses. Mostly thanks to the Javelin. Russian Mechanized infantry doctrine has troops stay within 50 meters of their vehicles when dismounted. Javelins have a range of a mile.
Did the Russians learn nothing from us in how to invade a much weaker country?
