In reality, hard work, personal initiative and unleashing the entrepreneurial spirit and letting people keep their money rebuilt Japan. The big government central control was not useful after the first few years. Kind of like in Europe. It's also hard to imagine a bigger, more intrusive and ineffective government than in Detroit. But you keep thinking government is the answer as you watch the poster city for central control in the US rot.
