According to security footage, a teacher propped open the back door of the school to see what was going on outside. She then went back into the school to get a cellphone, she went back to the door, saw the gunman approaching, so she retreated back into the school and left the door propped open.

The gunman then entered the school through this door and murdered all of those children and teachers.

This tragedy actually could have been prevented if the school staff viewed security doors as, you know, security doors, and not just a nuisance that needed to be bypassed.

Going all the way back to 2008, that is when it was recognized that the second amendment was interpreted as allowing an individual's right to possess firearms independent of service in a state militia and to use firearms for traditionally lawful purposes, including self-defense within the home.

This could easily be reversed by another court later down the line.
