Bro I’m with you. Working in an office doing tedious unfulfilling “makes no difference to the world” tasks…I often fantasize about joining the Ukrainian foreign legion and killing some evil Russian barbarians. I think I may have missed my calling during our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Alas I went college and got into financial services.
I have no military or combat experience though, so they don’t want me. I checked their site and it pretty much made clear don’t volunteer without that prior experience now. Pretty sure if I went I’d be assigned to picking up corpses on the battlefield or just cannon fodder.
how much of a braindead psycho do you have to be to have actually wanted to fight in the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. like holy shit
Think it has more to do with coming to terms that I’m going to turn 40 next year, and the opportunity to be a soldier is well behind me.
I work with many veterans. They describe the conditions of war as horrible, but also say there is no greater rush of adrenaline and clear sense of purpose like combat. Something about that second part just speaks to me.
and parkbandit stop posting. you are literally the worst poster
