230 protects websites from lawsuits if a user posts something illegal. If someone has posted or will post something illegal here, if it wasn’t for section 230, Kranar as the administrator and owner could face legal issues.
I take it, you aren’t aware that section 230 affords us a lot of freedoms to speak our minds. If we didn’t have it, we wouldn’t have places like this to shit on each other.

Platforms have always had protections from liability, that’s why you can’t sue a bookstore if they sell a book that has libelous information in it because it would be impossible for a bookstore to read each book and research everything in it to make sure everything is okay, the bookstore is merely providing a place for people to sell their books. The book publisher, being a publisher, is in fact liable because they do read the book and research everything in it before publishing said book.
This law carries over to the internet.
Section 230 exists because the courts ruled that internet services would only be considered a platform if they didn’t moderate their site, but if they did moderate then they were considered a publisher. Section 230 allows service providers to remain a platform and thus safe from lawsuits even if they moderate the content on their sites, as long as the moderation is done in good faith, e.g. removing content that is overly violent.
Without 230 all Kranar would have to do is not moderate, which is something this forum doesn’t do much of anyways.
I take it, you aren't aware what section 230 is or what it actually does.
