In 1895, the majority of people used horses and carriages. In 1945 we had jet air planes and nuclear bombs.
Shit, in my own lifetime I've seen some crazy changes. The internet now existing everywhere, everything, including the damn fridge, being computerized, cell phones being every where, flatscreens being all over the walls in bars. I remember when you could bullshit at a bar and no one could fact check you instantly. Ah, the days.

The statement that there are 12 million more registered democrats than republicans is still true regardless. This is from a majority of states 31 plus DC.
When you take into account the states that don't register voters, sure, some of the big republican states will bring up the number of republicans but they will also bring up the numbers of the democrats. The same for the midwest industrial states.
Look at that and also look at the amount of votes for either party in 2016 and 2018 and there are clearly more democrats than republicans in this country currently. By millions.

At this point in time I think this proves my contention that America is waaaay more democratic than republican. As of October 2017, Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrat, 24% identified as Republican, and 42% as Independent.[3]Additionally, polling showed that 46% are either "Democrats or Democratic leaners" and 39% are either "Republicans or Republican leaners" when Independents are asked "do you lean more to the Democratic Party or the Republican Party?"[4]
