This points out the crux of the issue. The native americans who were so scary in the past have been totally defanged and marginalized. Now that they are no longer scary people adopt their images to bestow the old power of the enemy on themselves. It's ancient and primal. African Americans are still around as a large group. They've never gone away and they've been able to stay relevant to fight back against words like nigger, buck and boy.

It's my contention that their representatives are. All black people aren't millionaires, but the NAACP can bring some pretty powerful lobby to any scenario. No, all Native Americans aren't millionaires...a lot of them are dirt poor. Oh, yeah, that. I would think it would have a lot to do with it. A lot of people who are born poor work their way out of it and provide a better life for their children than they had, hopefully breaking that cycle...but a lot don't. Having a better educated society would (hopefully) fix that, at least to a degree. I agree with Latrin's number that he took from the study, 40% of the wage gap is due to education differences...if we could bring even that part of it down to zero, it would do a lot for our society moving forward.

A lot do as a total number but maybe not a lot as a percentage. We're not very socially mobile anymore and it seems that mobility is getting worse, not better. The ones who get out of poverty are the exceptions but for the average person, they're not going anywhere, and their average kids are going anywhere.

Education is a key component in the circle. One person says race accounts for the wage gap another say it's education, then the sociologist will say that they are both part of the same continuum. Race plays into a shitty education which means shitty job which leads to your kids not having the resources for a good education and on and on. That's simplified of course.
