I don't know. Me being able to remember to take a look at potential tax credits sure helps. You neglecting that notion doesn't benefit your case. $60 is probably cheaper than a lot of people pay for their cell service. I've also curiously had no problems with any of the websites in that confirmation category.

Just for shits and giggles I put my yearly income as 5,000 dollars just to see what kind of help I would be offered and it said I made too much to qualify for Medicaid, the fuck? I thought they were expanding Medicaid coverage? Again to who? 5,000 dollars a year is making too much for Medicaid?

This whole thing is a failure.

ETA: And the secretary of health said people will pay more for their cable bills and cell phone bills then they would pay for their healthcare premiums. What planet does she live on that people have cable and cell phone bills that are larger than 200 dollars a month? Even combined that borders on the ridiculous.
At least you got that far. It is Day 11 of this $634 million roll out and I tried again to see what the plans would be like where I live.

And the message I got was.

Important: Your account couldn't be created at this time. The system is unavailable.

I don't care if the healthcare exchange is state run, Federal run or a partnership of the two. More testing should have been done.

The figures are certainly closer but I think you have that wrong bit mixed up.
You might want to renegotiate your cell phone contract. I have a big plan for business that includes tethering and 10g data and I pay $100.

My favorite part was when you combined cell phone, cable and Internet to make it over $200... then had to say your cell phone bill alone is over what it would cost you for Obamacare.

It's hilarious to watch you defend her stupid comment though... please continue with your $180 monthly cable bill next..

The fuck? I've got 5 phones with unlimited data on all 5 and my bill less than 165 a month...

So are you saying ACA is only a good deal for bad consumers?

Nope. It's a good deal if you qualify for tax credits or you're in a rural area with limited coverage.

I'd love you to find me cheaper coverage with decent service in my area. It isn't possible.

I love how you just decide what everyone's healthcare premium will be then decide it's cheaper than a lot of people's cell phone service then conclude that what the secretary of health said must be true.

The way your mind works is a wonder to behold, especially since according to the internets only 91% of adults in the US have a cell phone and only 56% have a smart phone (y'know, the ones with expensive data plans). I would love for you to spin how a zero phone bill for those 9% of people is more expensive than a 60 dollar plan.

Also what's with the "confirmation category"? You really think I'm just making this up that I'm having a hard time accessing the healthcare.gov website? Everyone else having a hard time is making it up too? It's all a conspiracy against Obamacare isn't it? Or perhaps it's just your confirmation bias showing again.

Wait a minute, all you get is tax credits? I thought the government just subsidized your premium? What if you make so little you don't even pay taxes? Doesn't do you any good?

Credits are applied at the end of the tax equation. Much more impactful than deductions due to being post tax application.

    Income
    -Reductions
    =Adjusted Gross Income
    -Deductions
    =Modified Adjusted Gross Income
    * Tax Rate/Brackets
    =Taxes Due / Excess
    +- Credits
    = Amount Due

That's going off memory of my tax classes probably 7 years ago at this point though, so some terms may not be accurate. Credits are 'worth' the most though.

Not doubting you know your shit but what exactly does this mean? Let's just give a hypothetical. What's the cutoff for not owning federal taxes, 10,000 dollars right? So if someone made 10,000 dollars and had no tax obligation and they received 2000 dollars in tax credits for having to buy their own insurance, does that mean they get a check from the IRS for 2000 dollars from those credits? Or is there some math involved and it would be less than 2000?

Also since it's a tax credit and not an outright subsidy paid to the insurance company every month does that mean this person making 10,000 would have to pay for that 2000 dollars throughout the year and will receive a check a couple of months after they file their taxes? What do they do in the meantime when they need that 2000 dollars they didn't previously have? Put everything on a credit card and pay the high interest rates?

My goodness, right when I thought this law couldn't get anymore pathetic I find this out.
