This is true. And if you go back even further, what was considered liberal 100 years ago would be conservative Republican now, and what was considered liberal 200 years ago an extreme right winger. We agree that liberals have been the most correct of their contemporaries in every time period throughout American history when it comes to social issues: abolition was right, women's suffrage was right, the civil rights movement was right. The country has moved inevitably from less liberal to more on social issues, and you agree with literally every single advance up until 1970 or so.

So what makes you think that in 50 years people aren't going to look at you the exact way you look at Bull Connor supporters now?

The specific social issue is different now.
The specific social issue has always been different.
And the liberals have always been correct.
And they have always been resisted by people who honestly believed this time was different.
And those people were always wrong.
