Freedom... is the ability to challenge yourself far beyond the constraints of traditional rule and order. We draw strength from our passions... we're driven by desire... even hatred can be a worthy ally when used against an enemy... and yet, we are told to turn our backs on these things... the very feelings, emotions... that make us all... human.

"Thread: On Miracles
Look, I like you. You seem a decent, thinking human being. What the hell are you doing in the politics folder on PC? What do you get out of this besides abuse? Serious question."
As a famous chief financial officer once put it, in this climate? It's Hail Mary time.
Do I think the loudest people will be convinced the truth? No.
Do I think any people will be convinced by the truth? No.
But I could be wrong - there's a first time for everything!
And we as a nation are at a tipping point.
We're so close to disaster AND so close to pulling back from the edge.
Since I'm researching this stuff anyway, posting it here has no downside for me.
Every day we see the thousands of deaths and hundreds of thousands of cases, and none of us can save them all.
But none of us has to save them all.
No single person killed four million Nazis, but we won World War 2.
No single person filled the National Mall, but we secured civil rights.
No single person engineered space flight, but we landed a man on the moon and returned him safely to earth.
We can rise to this great challenge of our time, each of us in our small everyday lives, each of us with our small everyday choices.
So if the truth nudges a couple more to make a couple more of those choices, and all I have to do is read that Parkbandit has a low opinion of me, I mean... that's as easy a call as wearing a mask in public during a global respiratory pandemic.

America, stop pushing. I know what I'm doing.
