I’ve heard differently, and there’s plenty of articles on the Internet that state that almost anyone can convert, and become Jewish even if they have no Jewish ancestry.

You can with some of the more liberal Jewish sects, that is true. Traditional Judaism is rooted in ethnicity. They are descendants of Abraham from the Bible and believe themselves to be God’s special chosen people.

Even they admit that it’s genetically impossible to distinguish biological markers between Jews and others, so doesn’t it make that entire point, irrelevant?
