How long do you think McCarthy is going to last?
Don't really care. I honestly wish everyone in congress and the white house would just disappear and we were able to reboot and start over. Any politician that runs on racism, sexism or gender automatically gets taken off any ballots. No one in the government gets paid at all until a balanced budget is implemented that cannot be overridden unless we declare war (hot war, not a proxy war in Ukraine).
Everyone gets term limits 2 for the senate (12 years is plenty), lets say 6 for congress (12 years is plenty), 8 for pres, time as vp counts towards that. Everyone has to pass annual basic ethics tests, have the IRS crawl up their ass the entire time they are in office and everyone over 50 have to pass mental competency tests in public, and no one can serve beyond 70.

I would even drop House to 4 terms (8 is plenty).. but I wouldn't count VP as being President in the term limits.. it's a different job.
Also: I don't trust our government using the IRS to selectively "crawl up their ass" in a consistent manner... or have a panel conduct mental competency tests or an annual basic ethic test. These would be too easy to target political enemies. I also wouldn't want a set age where you couldn't serve.. Ronald Reagan was a very unifying President and he was 70 when he was first elected.

The world today is a radically different world than it was in 1980. The pace of technological change today vs when Reagan was president is exponentially greater year over year. It's why we get Senate hearing on TikTok and Google where they're asking about how their phone works or their personal WiFi or random questions about their kids instead of important questions. I was an infant for Reagan but even inf my life the rate of change his hard to fathom so expecting someone who's an octogenarian to be able to keep up is unlikely. Not that they don't have a role in advising and relaying their historical context to a complex system of rules and measures but I think at a certain point there needs to be an understanding that people who don't keep up or can't keep up can't really govern a world they don't understand.

I often struggle with assessing Reagan’s presidency. On one side of the coin he saved us from imminent economic collapse, had a massive part in defeating our sworn enemy the Soviet Union, and ushered in a new age of Americana that really did wonders for the enjoyment of my childhood. On the other side of the coin his economic policies greatly eroded the middle class, his foreign policies created new future enemies, and his war on drugs while allowing anti communist freedom fighters to profit from drug trade did immeasurable harm to the poor & especially black community.
One thing that nobody really disputes though is that at age 70 his witts were sharp as a razor blade & he can be counted in the top 5 greatest orators of the 20th Century (Hitler probably has him beat in that regard, and I’d put JFK about even).

The system they put in place isn't working for the American people and needs to be gutted.
Instead of coming up with new and innovated ways to get more money from us, maybe they should be forced to live within a budget.
I get deficit spending is necessary sometimes.. in case of emergency.. but that debt should be cleaned up and paid for the following month/year and not just let accumulate to where the servicing of the debt is now one of the biggest line items in the entire government.
