It's not because in every state, even ones with castle doctrine, there is a burden of proof of threat. It might be low, but her standing there, not advancing, weaponless in a non-threatening posture does not meet any of them.

Knowing she is unarmed now, they could have subdued her without shooting her sure. We can armchair quarterback this all day. If you are trying to protect a secured area with a mob of people behind the person trying to get in (I assume she was warned not to advance), I don't think it unreasonable to use lethal force. Especially with the level of violence that had already been used to gain access to at least a few points on entry.
