    Question End the Filibuster?

    Let's ask former President Trump.

Trump was wrong in 2018. Trump is correct now.

If our elected representatives cannot reach a 60 person consensus, then they shouldn't pass shit. That's there for a reason - it's called compromise.

I hate when the Dems fuck with it. I hate when the Republicans fuck with it. They both fuck with it so they can keep their jobs and say they "did something", when in reality they don't compromise and ensure proper, well written legislation is passed. Instead we get clusterfuck bills passed that make hardly any sense.

It's a shit show watching how pathetic our representatives act once they are in power.

Or just ask any Democrat in the Senate in 2017 vs. 2021.

I'd rather they get rid of the filibuster, but since both major parties care more about their rich donors than the people, I doubt it'll really matter whether they end it or not.

It doesn't really seem like a valuable part of the democratic process, does it? It's more like an exception to one. Abolish it.

They never should have eliminated the requirement to actually filibuster. If your so against a bill that you want to stop what the majority wants to pass, get your ass out there and show us how long you can read the phone book. Being able to just say,"I filibuster" is too easy for something that stops the will of the majority, even if it's a small majority.

That's a central point. The Democrats have in their ability to rule by precedent that filibuster does not prevent a bill from coming to the floor for consideration. Any senator would have the ability to debate, bring motions or seek to add amendments, but it would actively require their active participation in Senate business. I'm not entirely sure why this hasn't yet been invoked, presumably it's because Senator Joe Manchin would vote against such a measure.

I believe having an actual debate on the bill, one subject to recording would be an important step forward in holding our majority and minority accountable in the Senate. This passive aggressive interpretation that a bill cannot even be brought forth by debate so long as even one Senator signals an intent to filibuster is simply cowardly.

    End it.

Congress needs to be restructured as well. The House is fine. They are a true representation of the voters. The Senate is an issue. For too long the minority party in the Senate has been able to roadblock the will of the people. The Senate as a whole, or even just 1 individual in the Senate, should not have as much power over the ENTIRE process as they do currently. Its fucking crazy thats how things are now.

End the electoral college while you're at it.
