I think you've both been listening to too much Republican propaganda. The Democrats don't support socialism, defunding the police, etc. Which is why I don't support them. Those of us who are actually left-wing in the U.S. don't support the right-wing capitalist Democrats. In the 2020 presidential election I voted for the Green Party's candidate, Howie Hawkins, because he actually supported left-wing socialist policies. Other real left-wing types in this country voted for other third party candidates such as Gloria La Riva, the candidate for the Party for Socialism and Liberation, or one of a handful of the other left-wing third party candidates who ran for president. And still other leftists in this country might not have voted at all, since the two major parties who generally win elections don't represent our views at all, and only really care about what benefits their rich and big corporate donors.

Because the economic situation is only one part. And the economic situation is better in America than 95%+ of the other countries out there.

I don’t support socialism. I never have, and I never will. I live in a socialist country now, I can see the benefits and the drawbacks. And the drawbacks are much higher than the benefits. But of course, I’m extremely well off, so I might not have the same view as someone who isn’t.

Edited; well there are a FEW aspects of socialism that I do support, but the majority of it, I do not.
