Very interesting. I'll have to give this some thought and watch for punishment/labeling/flaming with this in mind. My main concern - and apologies if I'm missing part of your point here - is I think that forcing people into binaries like good or evil is often a trap. I can't tell you how many times I've separated people in my mind into groups like stupid/smart or good/bad, only to later find out that I didn't actually understand the person. This seems especially easy to do across cultures, which I think happens a lot in the US between north/south, left/right, urban/rural etc. I'm not saying we shouldn't ever condemn people, just that I personally have historically been too quick to do so (okay, fine, and that I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this).
I guess that an easier pill to swallow that accomplishes the same thing is the phrase, "Never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to incompetence."
EDIT: I can't write the word "never" without thinking of this quote, which I think is also relevant: "Only the Sith deal in absolutes".
