Thread: Bernie Sanders has a great great grand-daughter? - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

  1. Default Bernie Sanders has a great great grand-daughter? - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

    Look at her platform.

I believe she checks all the socialist boxes and will do amazing with anyone who doesn't have a job, pay taxes, understand debt and anything financially related and probably every self-entitled millennial who thinks the world owes them something (just so long as that something comes from someone else with a job that will pay for it).

    • Medicare For All - speaks for itself
    • Housing As a Human Right - "Alexandria believes that housing is a right"
    • A Federal Jobs Guarantee - "A Federal Jobs Guarantee would create a baseline quality for employments that guarantees a minimum $15 wage (pegged to inflation), full healthcare, and paid child and sick leave for all."
    • Gun Control / Assault Weapons Ban - "It’s clear that the Founding Fathers did not have assault weapons in mind when they wrote the Second Amendment. "
    • Criminal Justice Reform, End Private Prisons - "Alexandria believes in ending mass incarceration and the war on drugs, and closing the school-to-prison pipeline. "
    • Immigration Justice / Abolish ICE - "As overseen by the Trump administration, ICE operates with virtually no accountability, ripping apart families and holding our friends and neighbors indefinitely in inhumane detention centers scattered across the United States. Alex believes that if we are to uphold civic justice, we must abolish ICE and see to it that our undocumented neighbors are treated with the dignity and respect owed to all people, regardless of citizenship status."
    • Solidarity with Puerto Rico - "4) Cancellation of Puerto Rico’s Wall Street debt: this debt has been accrued by vulture funds using irresponsible and unjust behavior reminiscent of the 2008 financial crisis."
    • Mobilizing Against Climate Change - "In order to address runaway global climate change, Alexandria strongly supports transitioning the United States to a carbon-free, 100% renewable energy system and a fully modernized electrical grid by 2035."
    • Clean Campaign Finance - Lots of shit why the wealthy run politics, I actually agree here.
    • Higher Education for All - "Alexandria’s plan would make tuition free at public colleges and universities throughout the country."
    • Women's Rights - "Alexandria does not accept any federal, state or local rollbacks, cuts or restrictions on the ability of individuals to access quality reproductive healthcare services, birth control, HIV/AIDS care and prevention, or medically accurate sexuality education."
    • Support LGBTQIA+ - "Republicans at every level of government are eager to make trans and non-binary people targets for persecution, and routinely draft legislation that would deny many people their rights to basic employment, housing, healthcare and education on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation."
    • Support Seniors - Essentially, tax the rich to bailout a failing program. I guess she doesn't understand that SS is meant to be about 40% of the funds necessary to survive in retirement, that people need to plan... oh, she also says we need to expand Medicaid.
    • Curb Wall Street Gambling: Restore Glass Steagall - break up big banks, poor money into the US postal service as a means to increase competition in the banking industry.

So, to summarize, she would like to do all the above, with literally zero mention to how it's paid for.

Today, if you pay taxes, your US national debt portion is $175,000.

For all the warhawks out there, we can literally cut 100% of the annual defense/war budget items from our "budget" and we will STILL be running a deficit of over 150,000,000,000 annually.

To recap, free healthcare for everyone, free college education for everyone, guaranteed job and double min wage for everyone, dissolve debt of puerto rico cause "unfair", free housing for the poor, let the non-violent criminals out, get rid of ICE entirely, 100% unrealistic "carbon free" USA, federally funded abortion, alphabet soup day, hate the rich and bankers, and lets ban "assault weapons"...

Don't get me wrong, there are things in there I agree with and frankly are common sense things and probably even feasible. I just could never get past the batshit crazy to even consider her as a serious candidate for anything in the United States. Fucking New Yorkers are clearly retarded.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but...uh..the zero mention of how it's paid for part...historically..is higher taxes. Politicians don't mention that because obviously politicians don't mention that. Sweden has a lot of the more expensive line items, like universal healthcare. The average US income tax is something like 27%, right? I think Sweden's is something like 53%. That's how it's paid for, so the blurb at the end there about "oh my gosh we'd never be able to pay for it!"... Well yeah, if everything remains the same and all those programs are implemented, we'd never be able to pay for it.

Whether it's a good idea or not to implement all those things is a valid source of debate, but your numbers are fairy wishes. I can see programs there I like in your list, and programs I don't like or think that would need a massive overhaul before more funding were given to them.

I think essentially every single thing on that list, many of which I don't agree with is better then paying 700+ dollars a day to imprison children stolen from people at the border. Or to pay for pens, coins, airfare and massive security for cabinet officials. The list of things money is being wasted on in this and in past administrations is long and ridiculous.

**SPLAT!!** Khaladon careens off the far wall, slides down the smooth wood panelling and collapses into a quivering heap on the floor, with only his dignity bruised.

17 years of military adventurism will do that.

The cost is .23 cents for anyone that tries to cross the border illegally.

There was a huge explosion in debt-per-capita after 9/11.
