Thread: Things that made you laugh today (Political Version)

Bernie Sanders: I demand every company pay its workers 15 dollars an hour!
Everyone with a tiny bit of economic sense: This will lead to fewer hours and people losing their jobs!
Bernie Sanders: NONSENSE! These companies can afford it!

Bernie Sanders' 2020 campaign workers: We demand the 15 dollars an hour that you demand everyone else pay!
Bernie Sanders: FINE! But you all have to work fewer hours!

Bernie Sanders sure is fine with spending other people's money but seems to have a problem with spending his own. Gives his workers fewer hours, pays shit in taxes compared to what he wants other rich people like himself to pay, and gives almost nothing to charity. It's almost like he's an elite socialist.

The worst part is Bernie bitching about the workers going to the press about it. Bernie is turning out to be the communist we were warned about.

Somewhere there is a story about a hippie commune that kicked him out for being useless, now I must find it.

When presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders was young and still had all his hair, he was kicked out of a hippie commune in Vermont in 1971 because he was “sitting around and talking” politics instead of working, according to a new book that’s mostly about the kids who did all the working.

It's gonna be brutal for him on the campaign trail. I cannot wait to see him flounder some more.

It may not look good on the surface. From what I understand their solution was to limit the amount of overtime hours and used the money they were paying in overtime to increase everyone's regular hourly. Everyone is still getting regular hours. Employers are required to pay overtime but they are not required to provide overtime hours. If the employees don't like how they run their campaign they can find other jobs.

But yeah, the fact that they weren't paying $15 an hour to everyone while promoting a $15 hour minimum wage is hypocritical. Even if they say they were paying what the law states they should pay they should set the example if they want to really effect the change they want to see.

You understand wrong. They earn a yearly salary, not an hourly salary. The problem is some people were working upwards of 60+ hours a week so they weren't earning 15 dollars an hour based on their yearly wage. Rather than pony up the dough like Sanders tells every other American corporation to do Sanders said "I'll keep my money...just don't work as many hours."

    Yeah, great job there, Bernie.

I'm willing to bet their workload within those working hours has nearly tripled to accommodate for the extra hours being cut.

This is another thing people like Back don't understand when it comes to companies being forced to cut back on worker hours, it leads to the workers needing to do a lot more work.

If you have 100 employees each working 60 hours that's 6000 man hours (sorry, Berkley! "people" hours) every week. If you cut back their hours to 40 hours and don't hire anymore workers that means they are now at 4000 people hours, a 33% drop. Are we to believe Sanders' campaign is just gonna be like "Eh! No problem!" or are they going to demand each worker works 33% harder? Spoiler: It's the latter.

So rather than paying each employee more like Sanders demands everyone else does what happened? He left everyone's pay the exact same and just told them all to worker harder for the same pay.

    Correct and fixed for accuracy.

It will be super duper great that anyone currently making over $15 an hour will be taking a $7.50 an hour pay cut if they bump the minimum wage and the minimum wage workers will still live in poverty.

If minimum wage laws work, why do they continually have to be increased?
