Replace the term "insurrection" with "arson", and all their zip ties, bear spray, gallows, etc., with torches, and you'd have no trouble charging them all with arson related crimes. You don't have to succeed at setting shit on fire to get arson charges. Same is true of murder. I see no problem applying that logic to insurrection and sedition. The intent was expressly conveyed, discussed and planned in great detail, the mere fact that they weren't successful is no reason not to haul them off for it.

You're comparing apples and oranges and trying to make everyone cry bloody tears for the injustice of it all. One was an attempted coup, organized by or on behalf of Donald Trump. The other a bunch of liberal morons in Portland trying to occupy a federal office. Both are wrong, but one is a federal capital crime punishable life in prison for sedition and the other 3-5 years in Prison for trespass and vandalism. They're not equal and your attempt to distract is admirable, but with faulty logic.

Not really trying to make everyone cry bloody tears for injustice though. Hell, I thought both situations were pretty fucking stupid. That being said, the idiots in Portland tried to set a police station on fire with people inside it. Wouldn't that technically be charging them with destruction of a government building, attempted murder, etc and carry a big more than 3-5yrs? Not trying to T4F this and over exaggerate what happened, I just don't recall what people were charged with in that situation and don't want to spout bullshit that wasn't the case.

Because in reality "trying to set a police station on fire" was actually setting a dumpster on fire, and the police precinct building was not damaged.
