Funny how you're applying 2017 standards to 1800s culture. Either way it still doesn't change the fact that had Virginia not seceded, Lee would have fought for the Union. Then he would magically be not racist, right?

It's also funny how you seem to think lines of thought like his weren't commonplace at the time, north or south. For the time his views on it were probably pretty progressive. Old progressive that is, not the new 2017 regressive progressive.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally, I'd rather be put out in a field to pick cotton or whatever than have to deal with surviving in Africa. How about you?

If the alternative was trying to survive in the wilds of Africa, sure I would. Both would still suck, but I think it's safe to say that not having to worry about being eaten by lions on a daily basis or whatever while also trying to not starve to death and all that would suck less than being in a field all day.

This is disregarding the fact of most of the slave traders in Africa being black. Are they racist for selling other black people into slavery?
