They do. There's even talks with the private owner of outright buying the islands. It's just the fucking Governor of Tokyo won't shut his trap. He's such an asshole. He constantly flaps his gums about how he's going to not let any Chinese vessels come remotely close and all sorts of shit. Both sides may be acting like idiots but really China is acting absurd when it comes to "disputing" territory it doesn't have any right to own. Check out this map of waters China claims to own. They think they have rights to water literally right up against the coast line of countries Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines and almost right up against the coast of Vietnam.
But then again the world has been letting China do shit like this for decades now so I guess I can't really blame them for thinking they can continue to get away with this type of behavior.

It wasn't random... I just didn't want to keep talking about my new job in case people were already thinking "STFU MAGIC"... I was cleaning the bathrooms at work and they use a bleach/water mixture.
