This is it exactly. No single person's opinion can be "more important" than anyone else in our society. That's how it's built. Some people are going to be offended no matter what you do. Some people are making it up, some people are not. If we "cater to the offended", we open the door for the sort of pettiness mankind is legendary for.

I'm glad you agree. Because how government works is the majority of people elect other people to make, enforce, and interpret laws, in a nutshell. We aren't living in a dictatorship where rules are handed down arbitrarily or at the whim of some despot.
