The proper response would be to yell "NERDS" and run out of the room.

"What's that?"
I tried my best to not say there is or isn't a god, I just asked the believer what she prays for and told the non believer its okay to believe what you want.
Everyone believes different things may have been what I said exactly lol
"I keep thinking about bloody Mary and mummies" "OK we are going to count backwards from fifty". I'm terrible
The correct answer is "If you don't go to sleep like good children, Satan will take your soul and you will burn in hell for eternity."
Obvs.
Child currently in my lap. I suck at this
OK he's back in bed. With the dog now. Hopefully this makes him feel safe
"Ask your parents" equally acceptable response to difficult questions.
Dude I don't want to influence any child's religious beliefs. I tried my hardest not to say anything either way. Not my place man
Talking in general, not at you specifically, GR.
Yeah definitely not the babysitters place. It wasn't a long conversation and it was mostly the two kids going back and forth. She was trying to tell him not to be afraid of the dark cause god is watching over them and he said he didn't believe because he didn't think his dad believes. And I just said people believe different things. And then the girl said she prayed every night and I said what about and she said for her family to be safe and for her covers not to fall off. So I tucked her covers in more and dropped the subject.
I just wasn't ready for that at all. I was like uuuuuh... I knew it was important not to say my opinion.
My step daughter asked a babysitter about sex one time just to fluster her. She already knew the answer from us, she just liked to screw with the sitters. lmao.
Personally, I tell them that if you don't believe in God and refuse to allow Jesus into your heart you wil face eternal damnation and torment in Hell.
So... you worship an alien entity that dictates "Believe in me or I'll make your afterlife a living hell"?
I usually try and be understanding, especially when it comes to religion.. but I just don't get this type of mindset. It goes hand in hand with the mindset of God giving you cancer, then deciding you learned your lesson and heals you.
You die, you snuff out like a candle. No biggy, it's a non existence, just like before you were born. The positive thing about this is you get one chance at life. Once chance to do good, one chance to influence others. There's are no rewards and no punishments other than what you bring upon yourself in this life. Get busy living.

Geez, it is as if there is no shortage of Darwin candidates...
Haha, the bottom one with the guy stuck in the swirly thing reminded me of that Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode.
I didn't laugh until I got to the guy stuck in the twisty stairs. Then I couldn't be stopped. THAT shit is FUNNY.
Took me a second to realize what was going on when I looked at the first pic, I thought it was some sort of porno.

My fucking family has a grimoire that's been passed from generation to generation.
What the actual fuck.
No. Apparently my grandmother, on her death bed, confessed to my mother that she wanted to pass the grimoire down to her but couldn't because my aunt got to it before hand. When my mother asked to see it, my aunt refused and said she hid it.
It's not from the Mexican or Navajo side of my family either.
Find it. Anaylze it to make sure it isn't made from the skin of your Aunt Jacinda, who went missing 42 years ago "mysteriously".
Frightening. Maybe someone in your family is a bit bonkers. Like beyond the normal family bonkers. I wonder what's in it. Now I'm all curious!!
Maybe there's potion recipes in there.
Or some rustic Viagra spell made from cactus needles. LOL.
So wait, is it just a family history book? Or is it an actual spellbook? Both fall under the category of being an actual grimoire. They're just used in different ways. Were you told at all?
My aunt told my mom it was "full of recipes". Now that'd be fine and cool but there's no reason to hide it if it's just 'recipes'.
From what I gather from my mom, it's a fucking spellbook. You don't just hide a book allegedly filled with 'recipes' from the rest of the family. If it were a family history book, same logic, y'know?
I dunno. My aunts fought over a hand-me-down cookbook.
Yeah. When my grandma died she had a cookbook with recipes from both my great grandmothers from the old country. One of my aunts snuck in after the funeral and walked off with it before they could all sit down and figure out who got what. It's a pretty common thing.
You lot don't even know my real name.
I don't know. I just can't see something as simple as a recipe book being tucked away. The women in my family regularly shared recipes so it's even harder to see them hiding a book full of them.
You're a man, bro. Don't get involved. Seriously. It's that intense. It MATTERS to them. Almost to the life and death point. I don't know whether it's pride, or ingrained stubbornness, but it's there. And it's relevant to them. And you can't say SHIT about it without getting bashed over the head with one of those BIG ASS FUCKING SPOONS. Or a ladle. Or a god damned rolling pin.
I'm not gonna let it die. I'm gonna be manipulative as fuck to see it. Even if I gotta crack a safe to see it.
I noticed it while I was playing Dragon Ball Xenoverse. It was a really weird realization since it's been ages since I watched DBZ or Spongebob and yet I was able to make the connection. Funnily enough, both characters are obsessed with destruction and appear to be incredibly cocky. They are also green.
Muslim, Middle Eastern and North African students at the University of Michigan were successful in their mission to cancel a campus screening of “American Sniper” – claiming the film promotes anti-Muslim rhetoric and made them feel unsafe.
The university had planned on showing the critically-acclaimed film about the life of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle on Friday. Instead, students will be treated to “Paddington” -- a PG rated flick based on the children's book about a stuffed Teddy bear.
Ugh.. people are stupid.
Typical college campus stuff; they have to protest something. Michigan has the largest Muslim population in the U.S. and I'm sure they have a significant presence and voice on the University of Michigan campus. It's a well-known school for Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies. Seems to me it would be better to screen the film and then hold discussions about why or why it is not problematic.
Harvard is in the middle of divestment protests, i.e. I think the students want them to reallocate whatever portion of their ~30 billion dollar endowment that is tied up in fossil fuels. I understand they plan to take over the administration building for a week and prevent the university president from getting into her office.
What's more American than a crowd of touchy people getting their way? Ever heard of the American Revolution?
Allah delivered us from the palm of the evildoers, all praise be to him. Show me one founder that explicitly said Muslims didn't lead us to victory in the American Revolution. You can't. I rest my case.

I always thought Michelle looked like a man.
That was creepy. He looks nothing like Megan Fox though. Or Jennifer Lawrence.
That being said, he was 100% on point looking like Katy Perry and Kristen Stewart. That was unsettling.
His Ariana Grande look was a bit odd, but it was pretty accurate as an older representation of how they portray her in television. Again, creepy as hell.
The rest were just decent.
Not bad. Pretty fun.
Now what happens when he's used as a stunt double in a movie and people find out they're drooling over a dude playing a chick?

Video of a cop using his vehicle to ram a criminal on foot. I'm not against the cop here per say, but it definitely isn't standard protocol to use your cruiser to take down a suspect on foot. Dude was walking down the street with a rifle, though.
Yeah, I was straddling the fence on this one as well. He'd already shot the rifle in to the air once as he was walking, so that definitely puts him into the "not sure what the hell he's going to do next" column. I'm no police expert, but I'd assume standard protocol would be to stop a certain distance away, draw a weapon, and order the suspect to the ground, leaving the officer or any bystanders susceptible to gunfire. So in that case, an officer using his vehicle as a way to subdue the suspect quickly and thereby reducing the possibility of more gunshots from the suspect seems within the realm of prudence. But watching it actually happen is a bit different.
I just read the thread. Don't find any serious fault in the cop's logic. Guy had fired a deadly weapon into the air. Who's to say the ammunition didn't hit, hurt, and maybe kill someone as it came back down? The officer saw the suspect with the weapon, the article says it got aimed at an officer, which means the officer driving the car simply used a much bigger version of tackling the suspect to the ground.
Cop is fine. Suspect is an idiot. Par for the course.
ETA: Yeah, it's not standard procedure. But, as said in the news clip, he was nearing businesses and populated areas. And the cop acted. I mean, it might not have been the BEST call... but it was a call that kept anyone from getting a shotgun blast to the chest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THTg9KpGS7s
There's a bit more to this story. Watch this one, especially in the beginning.
The cop was certainly justified in using force, but they should still follow protocol.
Alrighty, so now I see WHY the cop used the car. If the guy was threatening to kill himself, the cop who hit him took advantage of him being distracted, and disabled the suspect so he couldn't kill himself.
Are people trying to be mad over this? I don't see a real issue other than maybe a questionable tactics assumption.
Guy was clearly not willing to cooperate and just got done robbing a bunch of places and threatening officers with the gun. I think they did it to prevent him from entering someone's property and barricading himself in there. Using the car is a little weird but I'm not sure what else they could have done besides just shooting him right there.
Yeah, I don't see much fault with the officer.
I DO want to see an actual video that shows the impact though. Everything fades out, or stops and picks up 2sec later, or something. I'm not into the gruesome, but that guy went straight back it seemed. Where did he get hit? Did the car jump to his waist as it bounced the curb? Damnit, must see!
As requested: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/dashcam-...armed-suspect/
Ah, what the FUCK. He barely clipped him! I thought that windshield was the guy hitting. NO. It was the fucking cinder block wall!
I'm not mad at all. I just found out nuts that they GTA'd that dude with the squad car.
his mental state? that it was okay to walk around with a loaded gun in daylight during a robbery spree?Quote:
Valencia's public defender, Michelle Cohen Metzger, released a statement calling the situation an "obvious excessive use of force."
"It’s a miracle that he’s not dead," she said in the statement. "I’m hoping that the State takes into account my client’s mental state at the time, as he intended to hurt no one."
Well the funny part is, if you watch all the videos, a couple of them have him on tape threatening to shoot himself in the head if the cops don't back off.
As a part of police training, you are taught to evaluate psychological circumstances and act appropriately. If he was willing to kill himself, they had to act fast and surprise him so he didn't get the chance. Frankly, the officer did something the guy didn't expect, and had no time to react to, so nobody was harmed... other than the person toting the shotgun threatening suicide. ^^.
Hard to say really. I don't think anyone can fault the cops for finding a way to end it, but zooming around your fellow officer who is telling you to stand down and then ramming the guy (and subsequent CMU wall)? Just doesn't seem very smart. The cop is lucky that wall wasn't built better. The guy was on a crime spree so may be lucky to be alive, but clearly it wasn't a planned solution, and it should have been. Even doing the same thing without the close proximity of the camper and wall would have had a much less dangerous result. Whatever though, glad no one was seriously hurt.

I knew there was a large population concentration within Italy's Po Valley ... but wow ... only the Holland region seems to compare with it (aside from London/Paris as cities).
Calls for privatization of public goods such as water, parking and so forth have been growing louder in the US in recent years, and action has started to follow as well. Look up the parking situation in Chicago for a perfect example.
Our corporations and their marionettes in Washington are only slightly behind the curve in this respect but they're working diligently to make sure we become the world leader in this arena, as is only natural.
Also, I went to Houston's Museum of Fine Art today and saw this painting, The Elder Sister. Holy shit it's amazing and much smoother in person than this .png appears, it looks incredibly real.

Enjoy.
At work I have this annoying coworker of mine--very young (21), blonde, and fits the bill perfectly. Quite pompous, air headed, her parents told her that she was the greatest thing since sliced bread while growing up and now we all have to deal with her narcissism at work. Anyways, we've been working at Amazon for the same amount of time, and gotten promoted the same amount of times. She really wanted this one job that got posted about two months ago, she applied, needed approval from her manager, he said no. She wasn't ready. So she goes over his head to his boss, asks him for his approval for an interview, he said no, she isn't ready.
The 2 months pass by, and I hear she had an interview today. Turns out she went to her boss' boss' boss boss boss boss bodmdf;';kcs, and cried enough for an interview. She had 2 phone interviews back to back. I asked her, did you prepare for it? She said, "...noo...I'm just going to wing it." So not only did she get a brown-nosed interview, she didn't prepare for it, and now both of her managers who are directly in her apartment are not speaking to her and have her in the dog house.
This level of stupidity and immaturity has literally blew my mind out of my skull.

A security company with various honeypots for detecting network attacks visualized their data. It's basically a real time map of the planet getting hacked.
This is the part that blows my mind. Not her actions, the fact that this is how they are both handling it as managers.
A 21 year old being stupid about a job ... no surprise there.
You also left out a key detail. Is she hot?

Much more sensible...
lolo, I said apartment. I mean department, but you caught my drift. Also, no, she is not hot--least not to me. She actually just discovered WoW, and I'm pretty sure I saw a cheeto in her hair at work once. Her face is all breaking out, and she's dressing haggard to work. Good lord.

That's Leslie Bibb. Just so you know. The cheeks.
She looks terible in that first picture.
So... Olivia Munn is going to be Psylocke in Apocalypse. What the fuck? Appearance-wise, ok. Asian-ish girl with an (American) English voice. I have a hard time seeing her as a legit badass, though. Does she even qualify as an actress? Psylocke is a character I would like to see more of in the movies, but I hope this doesn't ruin that potential in future flicks.
Sorry, but that's like the ONLY thing she's done that hasn't been a one-off and/or small-time. I think Subzero's point was he wished there was a more established actress with greater hype attached to the name, playing Psylocke, so there was character recognition and momentum for spinoff. I doubt there's going to be a repeat of how outstanding Quicksilver was in the previous movie, who's presence, though by a relatively unknown actor was considered their breakout role and garnered them a retarded large fanbase for their acting prowess. But... at least she played in Iron Man 2 =P. She was that random reporter. And she did Attack of the Show for multiple years... which I have no clue what that is, because I don't watch it.
An HBO TV show. And she speaks perfect Japanese. She'll rock this role.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2sEA9-QZr4
Name recognition really isn't a concern. They could pluck the most obscure woman on Earth to play the role and if she looks the part and has the ability to do right by the character, so be it. I'm simply not sure that Munn has the ability to do this. Who knows, maybe this version of Psylocke will be more Braddock than Kwannon, but I sorta doubt it.
Dunno what HBO has to do with anything. The girl playing Jean is on an HBO show, too, and I have some doubts there as well. The main difference here being the fact that these are younger versions of these characters (Jean, Cyclops, and the like... you can't really have a younger Psylocke unless they're breaking the hell out of things which is always possible). I think that could kinda save the situation with SansaJean and as I've never seen her do anything else, I have no idea how she does in other roles. I get the feeling she's more of a legit actress than Munn, though, so it might not be bad. On the other hand, I just can't help but see a disaster in the making with Munn as Psylocke. Perhaps I'm in for a huge surprise. Or maybe we'll see as much of this Psylocke as we did in the other X-Men movie she was in (2 or 3, I guess?); all ten seconds worth of screen time.
As for speaking Japanese... do you suppose there are a lot of Asian/Japanese actresses without such ability?
I didn't say established. I said legit. I dunno, I just imagine the Hollywood-types would consider her more legit than Munn who got into all this because she was an attractive, goofy TV show host on a fucking nerd channel. I could be wrong, but the math seems simple.
So she was in a couple of things prior to her G4 stuff. No one remembers her from those gigs and whatever she did appear in back then, no one remembers. And what do you know? Shortly after whatever those things were, she landed on G4 (not to act, of course, but host a TV show since that's where they like to have actors get their 'start') where she picked up a big fan base; shocker, a pretty chick into nerd shit on a nerd channel. No one saw that coming.
As for being 'picked' because of tits and a pretty face... well... you don't seem to grasp how Hollywood works. Next you're going to tell me Kate Upton is a legit actress and was not picked for her pretty face and ginormous tits. Or the model girl who, like any other interchangeable part, was dropped into the Transformers movies after Megan Fox. Yep, she's gone on to greatness as well.
Kate Upton is a model that has been on TV and in a few movies but I wouldn't necessarily call her an actress. Munn studied acting in school and has far more work experience than Upton and Sansa girl combined.
Journalism? Really? As for TV and movies, like I alluded to earlier, simply landing in them does not legitimize your acting career. If that were so, we'd all call the likes of Upton, Dan Marino, The Miz, and Mike fucking Tyson actors.
I would summarize the career thusly:
Landed small acting gigs; hey, pretty face and tits, give her a shot!
Failed to make a mark in said gigs.
Picked up as a TV show host; gained fans (fans = ratings, Hollywood/TV loves ratings).
Is inserted more frequently as a bit player in more mainstream shows/movies, plus the one she apparently had a bigger role in; Newsroom.
Where do people know her from? G4. As a show host. Her acting failed her (mostly. I'm sure it played a part in being noticed or considered for the hosting job). Look, people like to see the Uptons and Whitelys (the transformer chick) and if they have a large fan base, they'll land in movies and whatnot.
Obviously we're not going to get some real life super hero(ine) for these things and I'm no casting director, so who might better fit the role isn't something I can answer. I just don't think I'm going to like how this one plays out is all. Like I said, I could be in for a huge surprise. Guess we'll see in 2016.
To be fair, Wonder Woman is some lame DC shit. Marvel, on the other hand, seems to be trying to give everyone some screen time in their new cinematic universe. Ant Man, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, heh... Howard the Duck (ok, obviously not new, but I couldn't leave the space Duck out), anyone has a chance. Straight honey-badgering it.
I suppose you don't see the contradiction in your citing three male characters and an 80% male group.
Gotta milk the cow while its still good.
So, they're making a TV show based on the Uncle Buck movie titled, "Uncle Buck". In keeping with the trendiness of changing the race of characters who are the basis for these new iterations, Uncle Buck will be featuring a black family.
Yeah... racist, blah blah blah.
I dunno. The only thing I remember about that movie is that it starred John Candy.

This was more of a wtf moment than something that blew my mind but anyways.
Today this guy was walking towards me swinging a white cane around on the ground and was wearing dark glasses so I'm backing up and trying to get out of his way and as he nears me he looks right at me and says "hello."
Why you have white cane and dark glasses?!
Improved sense of hearing.
Woke up at 1 am for some reason, read 2 chapters of my books, then proceeded to recite how I'm going to start my paper, and then dozed off to sleep, and now I'm here ready to fuck shit up. !
lol. Film Noir and Witchcraft and Heresy.
Yeah, the Catholic Church preferred burning, the State liked hanging. The last person to be executed by the Spanish Inquisition was in the 1800s. He wasn't burned though, because Spain refused to allow it, but they did allow a hanging. Shortly after the Spanish Inquisition was ended.
