“The plaintiffs are asking the courts to clarify when doctors can make medical exceptions to the state’s ban."
“I find it very telling that the state is claiming the doctors are to blame for not understanding exactly what is and what isn't considered legal in terms of when abortion is medically necessary. These women are now asking for clarification of when abortions are allowed and they won't even do that.
Looks like the law seems pretty vague according to these articles, but I haven’t read the law myself, so I can’t really comment on it from my perspective.
The punsihments are so draconian, from taking medical license away to tens of thousands of dollars in fine, to being procecuted for murder, that they rather be safe than sorry. How can you really blame the doctors?”
This is what the left gets when they kept pushing and pushing and pushing the limits of abortions.
I believe most normal people are ok with abortion as long as it's within reason. Personally, I believe 12-15 weeks is plenty of time. 6 weeks might be a little too early, but that's my opinion.
But when you have the left claiming it's the woman's body and they can do anything they want to the "clump of cells" up to and including birth.. then they become less normal and more inhumane.
Everything has an equilibrium.
A lack of enforcement of a law that adds penalties for an act isn't a good argument the state has no skin in the game. No more than it is a valid argument to get out of a speeding ticket for exceeding the legally posted speed limit you've exceeded for months prior to finally pulled over and ticketed. A crime not observed is no less a crime in a law abiding society.
I can find common ground with you that Texas abortion laws could be more specific and use widely accepted medical terminology as to help eliminate any possible confusion.
On this doctor and this case, I call bullshit about not blaming the doctor. You and I are not doctors, but I think we can both agree a medical exemption was warranted & lawful according to the State’s law.
