Everyone else is trying to keep us safe, and Republicans decide it's a "democratic hoax", and the WHO is part of the hoax (and apparently literally every government and medical organization in the world is in on it), and the CDC is making up numbers because hospitals are secretly out to get more money, oh and the vaccines will rewrite your DNA or have microchips or whatever insane thing they're running with today.

2) Non-partisan Fact Checkers tell Conservatives they're wrong sometimes. But Conservatives can't be wrong obviously, so those fact checkers are part of a secret liberal plot to trick you and make conservatives look bad!

3) Ditto on all non-partisan media, which doesn't really exist apparently because all journalists are secretly liberals with liberal agendas that are more important than being journalists I guess?

4) Social Media platforms finally start removing accounts and Pages that spread misinformation and promote violence....BUT ACTUALLY that's just a cover for their coordinated Silicon Valley attack on conservatives!

5) Parler gets booted by several vendors as the next step in the Silicon Valley fascist attack on conservatives and not, for example, because it refused to follow its ToS with them and allowed people to plan terrorist activity on the platform with no attempts to remove the content...which turned into an actual domestic terrorist insurrection.

6) Trump lost the election, so there must have been the largest and most complex massive voter fraud campaign in American history that included cooperation from every single Democratic alive, every county election official, every Republican election official in states Trump lost, Dominion, and almost 90 Judges (roughly half of which were appointed by Republicans, several by Trump himself). Yeah, sure, Republicans on every level (Including Trump) all massively outperformed the polling, but c'mon...it's so obvious what happened, right?

7) Trump incites his supporters to violence on the same day and at exact time that Congress is certifying the election he lost, then he points them to the Capitol and tells them this is their last chance to save their country. BUT obviously the real attack was a false flag operation by Antifa. Or BLM. Or Communists or whatever. Worst part is the FBI came out and said "Actually no, it was Trump supporters". So obviously the government was in on this too.

8) The DoJ refuses to prosecute Clinton and other political opponents of Trump? Then it has the nerve to ACTUALLY investigate a campaign with dozens of contacts with the foreign enemy who had run the largest election interference campaign in US history to get that campaign elected?? Well obviously there's a massive deep state cabal in the government out to get Trump!

9) BLM is secretly a Marxist operation to attack America!!11!. I mean come on, someone uncovered footage of 3 people who helped start it saying they were "Trained Marxists" in some unknown context. Okay yeah, none of them are involved anymore, and BLM doesn't really have centralized leadership. Oh and Marx is fundamentally incompatible with the beliefs of BLM. BUT...BUT...COMMUNISTS PEOPLE!

10) Oh, and Democrats are part of a secret Satanic cult of cannibals who prey on children. Clinton herself was a big part of it because...there's a pizza shop somewhere out there I guess?

11) Sandy Hook obviously wasn't a real shooting. And clearly the families and friends of the people who died and were otherwise terrorized couldn't be THAT mad. Any idiot can see they hired protesters to pretend they were mad.

12) Russia definitely didn't hack our elections oh and over 250 government agencies. The entire State Department, the FBI, the CIA, every private security firm looking into this, and every major Academic researcher looking into this are all just trying to make Trump look bad (somehow?), and it was OBVIOUSLY China.

13) Democrats trying to give people health care? NO. They're trying to turn us into a communist country and will be killing people off (mostly conservatives) with death panels! Sure there's nothing in the ACA about death panels deciding people can't get care, and yeah the core concept of the ACA is what the Heritage Foundation recommended. But still. COMMUNISM. I spend a lot of time comparing news stories on the right with non-partisan news stories, and they routinely leave out mountains of information on the right to avoid having to discuss it. Not quite true. He would lose any VA disability payments, but he would not lose his military retirement pension.

As for courts martial, the courts have ruled both ways on this, so it's a possibility but unlikely.

Side note - semantically speaking - the oath of serving in the Military is to the Constitution - not the currently elected Government. Though lawful obedience to the President and Officers appointed is there as well. So to go against the elected leaders does not "technically" apply to military personnel if actions taken by the elected leaders are in conflict with the Constitution. Just as disobeying an unlawful order from the President or Officers is not considered illegal - though it would be contested in a legal setting.

But again, the rioters were dumb for doing what they did, and should be handled in the legal system.

Edit: Just as the Joint Chiefs statement was correct in preemptive action to avoid any confusion or conflict with regards to any potential illegal orders given by President Trump. They were right in issuing that clear statement to avoid any potential conflict.

The Supreme Court has ruled on it one time, and it is also a recent ruling (2019). That trumps any other ruling. The guy raped a kid in Japan, they charged him, sentenced him to 8 years and dishonorable discharge. A retired Major General was court martialed in 2017 as well.

The UCMJ specifically states it applies to retirees and any others receiving pay.

An interesting note on the AF LtCol, he could not be court-martialed. He retired from the reserves, not active duty, so he no longer falls under the UCMJ. Had he retired from active duty, he would.

I can see where you're coming from in the cut and dry. She wasn't supposed to be there. If there was an audio message played over speakers telling people to stand down and leave and she decided to go towards a likely secured area, it's like trying to run the gate at a military base. You cross that line, there's not gonna be a whole lot of questions asked.

That being said, perceived threat and all that is a grey area. If secret service agents feel it's a split second decision though, that's just not going to end well as we saw.

What Trump did was whip a mob into a frenzy, directed them to Congress and they proceeded to break in, deface our highest institutions, assault police officers and committed countless other crimes. The dude is a contributor to every single one of those crimes, in addition to high crimes. Period.

Just because the 100% peaceful protests turned into 97% peaceful protests doesn't mean Trump bears that responsibility. That's not at all how the law works. I know butt-hurt Democrats such as you wish that is how the law works, well not really, that's how you wish the law works specifically for Trump and Republicans, but it's not. Democrats haven't managed to completely make a mockery of our legal system yet, give them a decade or two of complete control though and I'm sure they'll fuck that shit up too.
