Everytime Solkern posts here, he gets blasted for being horrendously wrong about everything and then fucks off. I imagine he is about to stfu again for a few months.
Also, my kid's grandparents specifically ask to see them. During the summer they volunteered to take them all, without me or my wife asking, for about 2 or 3 weeks. Yes, most grandparents love to watch their grandchildren. Your family just sucked I guess.

Having your grandparents, watch your kids, isn’t a solution to lowering the price of daycare. It’s literally the stupidest thing ever.

Some places are shittier than others for the cost and if you want to know, MN is outright fucking awful with childcare costs. Over 10 years ago when my 4 year old daughter and infant son were at childcare (no, we didn't have an option for grandparents to watch them like some of you retards on here are crying about) cost us nearly $28k for the year. Because we "made too much money" we didn't fall into the "you're poor as fuck" category to get state assistance for day care costs. I'd hate to see what the costs are now.
I'd see a couple of Mexican and Somalian moms dropping off 4/5/6 kids every morning.....they'd arrive in their shitty, rusted vans with doors practically rusted so bad they're barely hanging on. I was wondering how the hell they could afford to have that many kids in daycare because we were barely getting by with just two. Come to find out; the wife was friends with one of the day care teachers and she said those families are all on state assistance, they practically pay nothing out of pocket and here we are getting raked over the coals to pay for daycare costs.
The wife found out that the teacher (her friend) only made about $20 an hour, she had gone to post education for childcare/teaching. The main reason she accepted the job was she only had to pay 1/2 the cost to have her kids there, otherwise she'd seek employment at a school for better pay (which she did once her kids were school age and didn't need day care). The people they hired that didn't have much post education for childcare or experience started around $12 an hour. The facility director was paid around $60k a year. There was always 1 person that had a full post secondary school for each area and 1-2 non-post secondary personnel - except for the infant rooms, you needed proper post secondary schooling to work those rooms.
The facility had 2 rooms for infants and there were generally 12-16 infants at all times. That was 3-4 people watching them and at $330 a week for an infant meant $17160 a year per infant; the place had to easily pull in nearly $300K+ a year just on infants alone. Once they hit toddler age it was $300 a week, preschool age was $280 a week and any other kid older was $240 a week. Part time kids (school aged that were watched in the mornings before school and in the afternoons after school was out) varied by how many days, but it was $150 for a full week.
The place, between infants and fulltime preschool kids always had 50+ fulltime kids. Part time kids varied, but usually a few dozen. The place made bank off of parents and the state. I know this because the owner of the location would stop in at least once a week in their bright yellow Porsche 911. The place was always busy, people were paying it or the state was paying it - if people are paying the asking price then that's what it is and in MN it is expensive as hell.
People always would tell me that the cost of formula/food and diapers cost so much for newborns....fucking liars. The daycare is what costs so much. Over the course of all the years we paid into daycare it was easily $120K+. Kids are fucking expensive if you don't have family/friends to help carry the burden. This is, in my opinion, the number one reason a reasonably educated person will decided if they want to have kids or not, if they can afford to. The cost of everything now being 30%+ what it was 4 years ago makes having kids even harder now for those that can understand the costs of doing so. If my wife and I were just starting out today we wouldn't be able to afford having kids in daycare because of the cost of living increases.
