If I thought Obamacare was going to magically solve that 43 billion dollar "problem" then I'd be all for it. Simple fact of the matter is it won't. A lot of the uninsured are going to be on Medicaid which means we're all still paying for it. A lot of people still won't get health insurance. Yet another significant portion of the uninsured will be in very bad health and if you think what they pay in premiums will cover their own healthcare costs then you are smoking some good shit.

How people think adding a bunch of sick and unhealthy people into the system is going to lower everyone's healthcare costs is beyond me.

You have argued for them. "Wah wah wah we can't do anything about healthcare costs!" is arguing for higher healthcare costs as is actively trying to make ACA worse. That 17.7% figure isn't people on Medicaid. "A lot of" is definitely in the category of nebulous bullshit figures too if you think expansion is going to be that great.

Then you come around and talk about all the unhealthy people which is hilarious. I thought they weren't a big deal?

A) When have I ever said we can't do anything about healthcare costs?

You espouse the "do nothing and everything will be okay" argument that is favored by Republicans. It's bullshit.

Costs balloon. Then you whine about them. Then when somebody actually tries to address it "OMG THIS IS THE WORST IDEA EVAR!" even though it's basically a flat out lift of Romney/Dole/Gingrich/Heritage.

If Mitt Romney hadn't had to deal with the Tea Party crowd he'd have been proposing exactly this.

Well then this is the worst idea Romney/Dole/Gingrich/Heritage has ever come up with. I'll never understand why you keep mentioning this as if I'm supposed to suddenly say "OMG! I didn't know that! This is the best idea ever!"

So what exactly is objecting to any reform Obama proposes but that argument, Terrence?

I bring it up because it shows that a wishy washy moderate, a member of the staunch Republican establishment, and a fist shaking reformer all supported this. It's basically people from every part of your party. And Heritage is one of the philosophical and ideological columns of the Tea Party. It makes it even crazier to me.

Jeril, making people pay who made society pay before is very conservative. Crb used to love talking about "skin in the game."

Realistically, I will say that generally, no Politician really ever wants to cut spending. Republicans say it a lot more often then Dems do. Some republicans would even do it. I honestly can't think of one single Dem that has ran on a platform of cutting spending.

Also.. you forget, in DC, Reducing the increase in spending is considered a cut. Dems usually want to spend more then the regular annual increase... since you know, they won't pass a budget.

Yes, because every single conservative Idea is considered a good idea by every single conservative or semi-conservative.
