The entire West is currently in a democratic backslide, and Russia is at the center of most of it. The UK's Brexit Movement, the rise of the National Front in France, the destruction of the Polish democracy by the Law and Order Party, and the hijacking of the Republican party and Donald Trump's rise in the US are just some of the destabilizing events Russia has supported that have undermined democracy in the West over the past decade. There's a reason, for example, why literally all of those parties/political leaders have been critical of NATO. No one in the West questioned NATO at all until Putin started helping far right parties and political figures rise in their respective countries.
Vladimir Putin is the enemy of freedom. This attack on Ukraine is evil on every level.
