Rubio won. No question about it.

None of the others stood out much. Fiorina did not live up to the high expectations she set in the earlier debates.

I didn't even know about it until a little earlier. Was it online only?

Jeb Bush campaign manager Danny Diaz got into a heated confrontation with a CNBC producer outside the debate as it was happening, according to two sources familiar with the incident.

One of the sources said Diaz was complaining about speaking time allotments.
A CNBC spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.

“I expressed my displeasure about the way the debate was managed and the amount of time [we got],” said Diaz, who declined to comment further.

Bush had one of the briefest speaking times of the debate – something that aides are expressing frustration about. According to a count compiled by National Public Radio, Bush spoke (https://twitter.com/nprpolitics/status/659551379518787584) for less time than any other candidate.

The losers of tonight's debate were CNBC and the moderators.

Here are some of they questions asked:

"Donald Trump, are you a comic-book villain?"

"Ben Carson, can you do math?"

"John Kasich, will you insult two people over here?"

"Marco Rubio, why don't you resign?"

"Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?"

Uhh.. were these written by 5 year olds?

Awful lot of troll questions. Will be interesting to get my students' take. They were most impressed by Fiorina and Carson before.

The moderation was terrible. Whoever that woman was in the middle being the timekeeper and her constant "excuse me Governor" "excuse me Senator".. I wanted someone to choke her out.

Terrible questions. It was touted as a deep conversation about economic principles by a network who is based upon finance and it was anything but.

What a missed opportunity for CNBC.

I am going to laugh my ass off when CNBC DOESN'T ask these types of questions to ... ok... it's basically just Hillary. I mean, talk about proving a double standard.

So dumb.

Well.. they haven't done a Dem one... since there has been only one. Then again, with Hillary crowned, maybe there won't ~BE~ any more Dem ones. Supposedly she has 500 super delegates in her pocket already, so basically it's over on the Dem side. So not having more Debates would benefit her. BUT MSNBC is listed at the next Dem debate on Nov 6th. So we will see.

Also.. I think it's funny that Univison, PBS and Moveon.org get a debate, but the DNC refused to let fox do one because fox is "biased". The RNC should have said no to CNN, NBC, and ABC for the same reason then.

~~~~November 6, 2015 – Rock Hill, South Carolina
Rachel Maddow has been selected to moderate the First in the South Candidates Forum with Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O'Malley, to be held in South Carolina on November 6th, co-sponsored by the Democratic Parties of 13 southern states.[21] Lincoln Chafee and Jim Webb were also invited, but their campaigns never responded to the invitations,[22] and have since withdrawn from the race.
Maybe it's not a "Debate" in the classic sense.
Becky Quick, she is honestly alright, but her job mostly revolves around her being Warren Buffett's favorite talking head. She has probably down more interviews with him than any other person on the planet, and his nonsense probably rubs off a little bit and of course his patronage provides her job security. But usually she is okay.
I like CNBC, I watch it all the time, I keep it on in my office, its on right now... but yes. They seriously dropped the ball here. Of course John Harwood is the worst, the total worst, he is the biggest water carrying hack ever. Karl is usually okay though. I wonder if Harwood did most of the planning. Missed opportunity for sure. And I agree with ClydeR, amazingly. Rubio won, Bush and CNBC lost.
She does their early morning show, and any program Buffett related. But in the early morning she is stuck between two guys, a Andrew Ross Sorkin (total left wing), and Joe Kernan (total right wing). She tends to be pretty submissive and plays peacekeeper. Her style/personality is one of "I'm dumb, please explain this to me." Very nonconfrontational. But she isn't usually partisan or ideological. She is the soccer mom of CNBC.
Carl used to have Andrew's job and got a promotion, he wasn't really that left wing though, I think that Andrew has his job now colors my memories of him. I really put all the blame on Harwood. John Harwood has long been known to be a huge hack.
Republican voters say Trump won the debate. I think it's a case of basing their opinion of who won on who they already supported.
I give credit to Obama for his speaking ability and delivery, but that is supported by a TelePrompter. He tends to falter a bit when speaking freely.
Rubio seems very comfortable talking. Clear, concise, and with a way to take complex issues and speak in layman's terms about them. It could be he is really well rehearsed, or really understands the topics he his discussing. Time will tell.
Will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Should note here that Harwood is generally disliked by conservatives, and liked by liberals. (well, as much as any CNBC host can be liked by liberals.)
CNBC isn't getting a chance to moderate a Democratic debate, IIRC. NBC is getting one, but that's not the same.
CNBC isn't getting a chance to moderate a Democratic debate, IIRC. NBC is getting one, but that's not the same.
1. After the debate I read articles by liberals who are actual serious journalists blasting Harwood. I don't think anyone out of the strictly partisan like him. He is like the left's Tucker Carlson, if he was a politician I would compare him to Rick Santorum.
2. He isn't a CNBC host. He is their "Senior Washington Correspondent" aka he covers capital hill and the white house.... for CNBC, the business network, because his hack journalism can't get his leg in the door at regular NBC. So if there is something going on in Washington he does little 1 minute reports throughout the day. He isn't qualified enough to be a host or an anchor, if he ever got his own spot ratings would tank.
3. CNBC actually has a mix of liberals and conservatives.... but outside of Harwood they have very few partisans, which is nice. They're ideologues one way or the other on specific fiscal issues. They don't have democrat vs republican arguments insomuch as loose or right monetary policy arguments.
