The best way to reform Social Security is to eliminate the payroll tax. Seriously.

That sounds like a Democrat proposal. Republicans will never go for it. Eliminating the payroll tax would be the same thing as wealth redistribution.

Republicans have always supported the payroll tax. You may remember that there was a payroll tax cut in 2011 that was part of a stimulus package. Republicans fought tooth and nail to keep the payroll tax cut from being extended into 2012 but eventually relented when it was tied to other matters.

I'm already planning on not having Social Security. I've always been opposed to it anyway, if only because it's basically the government saying I'm going to be irresponsible so they're going to take a portion of my paycheck every week to invest for me since I'm incapable of doing it for myself. It's insulting.

It's already wealth redistribution. You get all you paid out in just a few years yet can collect endlessly. I assume I won't get it and I know damn well if I could put my taxed amount into a 401K or other IRA account that I have a much better chance to see my money again.

It is a state-mandated ponzi scheme.

I know a lot of people balk at this term, and give reasons why it isn't because of words, but...be real.

The State is using your money to pay benefits to others who have already paid in, but at an ever-increasing loss.

It is the very definition of a Ponzi scheme. If anyone besides the government was running it, they would be arrested.

It's the very definition of a pension.
