View Full Version : Iran and Hezbollah no longer a threat to American interests

Apparently they no longer pose a threat to us.
So our government removed them from the terror threat list....
once again..
Our Government removed IRAN and HEZBOLLAH from the terror threat list.
Their reasoning... according to one report...
It was a formatting error.
By the way.. the report still lists them as a state sponsor of Terrorism.
http://www.newsweek.com/iran-and-hezbollah-omitted-us-terror-threat-list-amid-nuclear-talks-314073
So.. just got to wonder.. HOW much are we going to give Iran? What won't appear in the "deal" Obama is working on that we will never see?
Maybe Obama will just hand over a few W88's?
Very interesting that this happens in the middle of negotiations... negotiations with a terrorist state that has killed a lot of our soldiers.

We cut them slack on sanctions and they help fight Sunni extremists. Win win for everyone.
Yeah. Just how are we supposed to justify spending 10x more than the rest of the world combined on weapons with taxpayer dollars if we are going to go around using diplomacy to end conflicts?

I agree. We negotiated Iran away from terrorism and nuclear weapons and now they are on the right path.
So fucking easy. We should do this with North Korea next.

Favoring diplomacy doesn't mean I have a hard on for Iran. Besides, it isn't like this is the first time we've engaged in diplomacy with those that were once our enemies. General Petraeus helped to make peace with Sunni militias in Iraq that we had been engaged in combat with, to great success. I see no problem with aligning with Iran as well.

You're right, engaging in diplomacy isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's Obama's fucking ineptness that pisses me off. Remember the whole "Russia reset button" bullshit? Obama scrapped the missile defense system in Europe for...what was that again? Oh yeah, absolutely jack shit in return from Russia.
And now we are taking Iran off the terror list, why again? What are we getting in return? Oh yeah, so Obama won't look like he's negotiating with a terrorist state and lemmings such as yourself fall for the shit.

Talking about lifting sanctions from Cuba, a good thing, right? Did Obama publicly declare any specific demands? No. In fact Cuba took a cue from Obama's weakness and demanded money from the hardship the sanctions put on Cuba.
Humanizing the piece of shit Chavez, again, what did Obama gain from that? Oh right, a couple of years later Chavez was accusing Obama of giving him and other Latin country leaders cancer.
Way to go, Obama! You've managed to fuck up just about every international topic you dared to dive into, but it's okay! pk has your back on the Iran issue! Clearly you're golden.

The only thing scrapped was the long range missile interceptors. Poland is still getting short and medium range interceptors and there will be Aegis systems placed in the Mediterranean and elsewhere.

Well.. they wouldn't be gone if Obama was President while it happened.
He would likely announce that the attacks were due to American Aggressiveness in the USSR.. I mean Soviet Region. That these attacks are not their fault, and we can't hurt people that were only defending themselves.
Then he would lift sanctions on them, and give them Ukraine and the Baltic states.

Sanctions alone usually aren't enough but that doesn't mean they can't be effective. Russia has lost hundreds of billions of dollars between sanctions and the falling price of oil.
I have never said I'm against boots on the ground. I don't think the US needs to be involved in another land war in Iraq but that doesn't mean I'm against using troops when it is necessary. As it is now US troops and heavy equipment are being placed in eastern Europe and we have advisors in Ukraine. We're also increasing military training with our European counterparts.
I have never said I did multiple tours. I did one, Qatar in 2004. I don't know anyone personally that was injured though I have seen results of an insurgent attack. A cargo plane departing Baghdad airport for Al Udeid was shot up pretty badly. Killed 7 soldiers on board.
