View Full Version : Best Attorney General Ever?

Now that the President has nominated a new AG (http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/11/09/remarks-president-nomination-loretta-lynch-attorney-general), it's time to review her predecessors.

Who was the best Attorney General? Below is a list to those appointed by the last five presidents. I'm sure you remember the main things these AGs did without the need for me to remind you.

Eric Holder (Obama)
Michael Mukasey (Bush Jr.)
Alberto Gonzales (Bush Jr.)
John Ashcroft (Bush Jr.)
Janet Reno (Clinton)
William P. Barr (Bush Sr.)
Richard L. Thornburgh (Reagan)
Edwin Meese (Reagan)
William French Smith (Reagan)

I say it was Alberto Gonzales appointed by George W. Bush. When Ashcroft was too squishy to approve wiretapping of Americans and unlimited torture of suspected terrorists, Gonzales stepped up and did what was necessary.

Wasn't Janet Reno the one who ordered armed officers to enter the house of Elián González and take him away by force?

She gets my vote.

Yes but she was also responsible for the Waco fiasco.

No, before her time. That was William Barr.

You are right, she was just the apologist trying to sweep it all under the rug for so many years. Bob Barr wasn't the best, that's for sure.

Both easily avoided had the militia, Aryan nation and Branch Davidians cooperated at all. No doubt the government made mistakes, but the law is the law and ignoring it typically means responses will continue to escalate until concluded.

Janet Reno is particularly unattractive. I would not even want her to make me a sammich. I vote for Edwin Meese.

Yeah, the problems with Ruby Ridge started long before the arrest warrant and go back to J. Edger Hoover style jack boot FBI tactics. Continue with the FBI breaking the law, individual agents breaking the law and then a coverup and sweep under the rug to bury the bodies.

Waco was so fucked up from the start it is hard to believe the people in charge have enough brain power to wipe their ass. What is harder to believe is that they kept their jobs and didn't go to prison for what they did. Most outrageous to believe is that Reno kept her job and Clinton and the apologists managed to stay around as well.

Both are failures of the government to obey the law, failure of the media to be the government watchdog they tout themselves and a clear demonstration of the dangers of an escalating police state.

In the end, the guardians of the law broke the law and got away with it after murdering Americans in plain daylight.

I find it hard to comprehend in what universe the idea of finding out what actually happened before making a judgment is bad. I also fail to understand how being against rioting and burning down your own neighborhood is inconsistent with wanting justice done.

A bunch of dudes attacked cops [with .50 caliber machine guns] and got shot for it.

Way to make an outlandishly absurd and ignorant statement with the intent of justifying murder of American citizens by the Federal Government. Typical liberal moron.

As best I can tell, the most powerful weapon they had was FN Fal rifles. There is no mention of any machine guns in the manifest from the government found here (http://usgovinfo.about.com/blwacoguns.htm) is a bunch of 50 caliber machine gun belt links, which are basically scrap metal. No casings, no ammunition, no weapons.

Do try to troll harder in support of your icons of universal surveillance and Orwellian government.

Typical liberal moron.I mean... you get how Thondalar said the same thing, right? You really don't see how that worked? You found one depiction "outlandishly absurd and ignorant", the other depiction you didn't feel was worth comment at all - in other words, you proved my original point better than I ever could.

I used to wear jean shorts too. In the 80s and 90s lots of people did. There are still lots of people that do in Louisiana now. I don't see the problem with them, personally.

Everyone knows that selling a Stunner has nothing to do with the trip down, but how you sell it after the big hit.
