Tom Corbett, the Republican Governor of Pennsylvania, wants a lot of details about which state employees opened e-mails that they received containing pornographic pictures or videos.

Gov. Tom Corbett said today that he has asked state Attorney General Kathleen Kane for more information regarding old email accounts of top current and former Pennsylvania officials, including members of his own administration, that contained sexual images and videos.

"I need the facts," Mr. Corbett said. "I just can't have the opinion of one person as to whether an email was ever read or deleted. I don't know that to be the case."

He said he also wanted to know whether and when the email was opened; whether and when it was deleted; whether the email was deleted without being opened; and the complete email exchange series. He also has asked that in cases where an email was forwarded or sent from a recipient to provide the date, time and recipients and whether the email was opened or deleted.

Mr. Corbett made his comments a day after Ms. Kane invited reporters to view a sample of the videos and photographs at her Harrisburg offices. She did so after her office had received -- and rejected -- requests for the images from news organizations, citing the state's Right-To-Know law.

Aides to Ms. Kane have named eight former employees whose accounts, they said, included images ranging from photos of nude women to graphic videos of sexual acts. The emails were sent between 2008 and 2012, a period that includes the end of Mr. Corbett's term as attorney general.

Corbett said he has not asked for anybody's resignation so far. But he may after he finds out who opened their e-mails. The state employees who opened those e-mails had better hope that Corbett waits three years after finding out about it before taking action, like he did with the Sandusky child sex abuse scandal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Corbett#Jerry_Sandusky_child_sex_abuse_scandal ).
