Kurdish forces will receive sufficient weapons to equip a 4,000-strong brigade by the end of September, German defence minister Ursula von der Leyen announced in Berlin on Sunday night.

Always something that needs to be considered though I have more confidence in the Kurds and the Peshmerga than say unknown "rebel" groups in Syria.

I am pretty sure they are going to need a LOT more ammunition than that. That is barely enough to train and fight maybe 1 battle per soldier.

Obama could strike a major blow for gun control with a cash for guns buy up of all used/gunshow AK/SKS weapons in the US and ship them to the Kurds and so on, at least there, they would know they have a ready ammo supply from dead enemies. Of course that would limit the availability of weapons to use for Fast and Furious operations.
