A lot of this is excellent. I certainly wouldn't be keen on not being able to tell students to put their cellphones away though. The final Godwin's Law violating conclusion is quite poorly done as well. We don't need Nazi analogies, we need alternate systems of evaluation and less overzealous discipline for minute infractions.

Most of it was silly and seemingly written by someone paranoid about the big, bad government coming to get them.

I was turned at the part about the militarizing of the police forces. Uh, so individuals can legally stockpile heavy weapons, but the police shouldn't? Yeah, that's a good plan.

I was more referring to the problems with zero tolerance polices and standardized testing of either the NCLB or Common Core sort.

I'm deeply unbothered by our resource officers having their service pistols, non lethal measures, and shotgun/rifle in their vehicles.

The title of the article is astonishingly tone deaf, given that actual nails have been put in an actual coffin following an actual death caused by actual police. I recognize that writers don't always choose their own headlines, but we can't let that kind of thing go without comment.

This is only a problem if the behavior is noncriminal. A police officer's job is to arrest people they think are committing crimes. Until we're in a Judge Dredd scenario where the police also try and convict alleged offenders this is not only acceptable but absolutely required for a functioning society.

a) YOU SHOULD BE AFRAID OF THE POLICE!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?? There's a hundred thousand people allowed to kill you if they're pretty sure you deserve it.
b) Tasers are pretty scary, but you know what else is lethal enough to kill? A bullet.
